CHIKARA returns with Summer Night City on June 7th. They are partnering with a local Philadelphia brewing company, Love City Brewing. The event will take place in the building of Love City Brewing. It is a joint event celebrating both Philly Beer Week and Philadelphia Pride 2019. Proceeds from this event will benefit a local charity, Valley Youth House. Valley Youth House began in with a single shelter in Lehigh Valley in 1973. Fast forward today and now they have over 250 residential locations across the state of Pennsylvania. The mission of the organization is to be a “catalyst for youth to achieve their desired future through genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and build community connections.”
Fire Ant vs. Tony Deppen
The Hot Property of The Colony is Fire Ant and he has become a stalwart for CHIKARA. He’s been with the promotion for several years and survived through many of the major changes. Fire Ant has also become a very exciting and polished in-ring technician. Tony Deppen has also become a mainstay for CHIKARA in the last couple of years. Somehow these two have never had a singles contest within a CHIKARA ring. There have been a few trios matches where both were involved, either on the same or opposite sides. Fire Ant and the Colony eliminated Deppen and F.I.S.T. from the 2018 King of Trios. Earlier this season, F.I.S.T. defeated The Colony at Once Upon a Beginning over WrestleMania weekend. Now at the very special Summer Night City, they will finally square off one on one for the CHIKArmy.
Rory Gulak vs. Travis Huckabee
Unlike the previous match, these two have faced either a number of times. Over the history of the last few seasons, Rory Gulak and Travis Huckabee are 2-2. This serves as a type of rubber match for them. Both of them are also the 2017 (Rory) and 2018 (Travis) Johnny Kid Invitational tournament winners, respectively. Travis has been on a bit of a roll, he and Tony Deppen are the current Campeonatos de Parejas. He also has one point on the board towards a future Grand Championship shot. For the Amazing Rory Gulak, it hasn’t been the same. He hasn’t had a singles victory in CHIKARA since he defeated Huckabee back at the 2018 National Pro Wrestling Day. Will Summer Night City be the time Rory is finally able to turn his luck around?
Missile Assault Man vs. Rick Roland
This match is going to be a hoss fight. Missile Assault Man (MAM) is a deceptively strong individual. His opponent here will be Rick Roland, one half of The Closers. Roland is the big powerhouse of that team. Standing at 6’3 and over 280 pounds, he’s got the clear size advantage. MAM is not one who is intimidated by any opponent. He has become beloved by the CHIKArmy because of his devotion and heart. MAM is still on a mission of his own, to prove himself worthy of his spot in CHIKARA and in the hearts of the CHIKArmy.
Danjerhawk, Razerhawk and Solo Darling vs. Hermit Crab, Cajun Crawdad, and El Hijo del Ice Cream
The most fly tag team of the new millennium will team up with the Sharp Stinger of CHIKARA, Solo Darling! Together they will take on the crustacean contingent of the Creatures of the Deep and El Hijo del Ice Cream! Cajun Crawdad and Hermit Crab attacked Razerhawk at CHIKARA Live at FNB Field on June 6th. This will be more fuel for the technicos as they fight for all that is good! Trios action is signature CHIKARA and you can see this one at Summer Night City.
Off the Hop Rope vs. The Proteus Wheel
The three gentlemen behind the podcast Off the Hop Rope will be joining CHIKARA at Love City Brewing! They will team up to take on the monstrous creations of Professor Nicodemus, the Proteus Wheel! “Smart” Mark Sterling, “Top Shelf” Troy Nelson and CPA are wrestlers that work in the northeast and the midwest. They also host their aforementioned podcast which pairs beer with wrestling matches. Surely Love City Brewing will have just the right beer on tap for this interesting match up!
Young Lions Cup Match
Still Life with Apricots & Pears vs. Boomer Hatfield
The reign of the first ever non-binary Young Lions Cup holder continues! Still Life With Apricots and Pears has been on a winning streak of astounding proportions. They have had four successful cup defenses to date. Their immediate goal is to surpass the record held by Hallowicked with seven cup defenses. Now the person they defeated for the Young Lions Cup is across the ring from them again. Boomer Hatfield has had to grow up a lot since March’s Young Lions Cup XV. A family feud has torn the Hatfield family apart, including father and son. Boomer defeated and had to unmask his father, Dasher Hatfield at Anniversario: Scotch Mist. This also arose issues with his cousin, Molly McCoy. Now Boomer will have to put all of that aside and focus on the match before him. Still Life with Apricots and Pears is jealous of the adulation Boomer received and is determined to seize it for themselves.
All of this awesome action goes down on June 7th at Love City Brewing in Philadelphia, PA. Bell time is scheduled for 8:00 PM and tickets are limited to just 200 fans.
