#AndNEW: WrestleCircus Landscape Shifts With Massive Title Reboot

WrestleCircus

WrestleCircus returned to the indie scene on Sunday night, the company’s first event since March of 2018. With multi-champion Brian Cage out with an injury sustained at IMPACT Wrestling‘s Rebellion PPV last month, the WC Ringmaster and WC Sideshow Champion vacated both of his titles, which added more intrigue to Sunday’s show, appropriately called Encore. The WC Big Top Tag Team titles were also on the line for Sunday’s card. The only title not up for grabs was the WC Lady of the Ring title, as its champion, Tessa Blanchard, was previously booked with Warrior Wrestling in Chicago on Sunday night (where she added even more gold).

The Dirty Devils (Andy Dalton & Gregory James) had been WC Big Top Tag Champs for 414-days going into Encore on Sunday and faced two other teams in a triple threat for their belts. The Reigel Twins (Logan & Sterling Reigel) showed promise of why they’re an up-and-coming tandem to keep your eyes on this year, but it was The Rascalz‘ duo of Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz who ended up with the victory and became the new tag team champions for WrestleCircus.

#AndNEW: Gentleman Jervis Wins WC Sideshow Championship

The secondary singles title in WrestleCircus, Brian Cage had won the title in one of 2018’s matches of the year against Tessa Blanchard last February. In a match to crown the new Sideshow Champion, former champion Gentleman Jervis faced off against the Independent Wrestling Champion Orange Cassidy. But the good deeds of Jervis Cottonbelly prevailed, and by the end of the match, Jervis became only the second person to hold the title twice (behind Joey Ryan‘s three reigns).

#AndNEW: Scorpio Sky Wins Wrestlecircus Ringmaster Championship

In a tournament to crown the new WC Ringmaster Champion, first round action saw The Rascalz’ third man, Dezmond Xavier, defeat Scorpio Sky of All Elite Wrestling (AEW)‘s SoCal Uncensored (SCU), while another AEW star, Sammy Guevara, defeated Joey Janela to advance. In the final, it was Sammy Guevara who would defeat Xavier and become the new WC Ringmaster Champion. Guevera really elevated his game in WrestleCircus’ early days – he’s a former WC Sideshow Champion as well – but much like his Sideshow reign, he didn’t make it out the arena as champion. Back in October of 2017, Scorpio Sky defeated Guevara in a Carnival Cash-In match (similar to WWE’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match) and has been holding his briefcase ever since. But shortly after Guevara’s hand was held high as the new WC Ringmaster Champion, Sky cashed in his Carnival Briefcase, and Sky was immediately entered into a Ringmaster Championship match with the new champion. Minutes later, it was over, and Scorpio Sky, another former Sideshow Champion, was crowned the new WC Ringmaster Champion.

On Monday, Tessa Blanchard congratulated WrestleCircus on their return show, but reminded them that there was “only one diamond”. This prompted WrestleCircus management to propose a match between the reigning Lady of the Ring Champion against the newly crowned Ringmaster Champion, with the Ringmaster title on the line.
