Jake Hager Wins Second Bellator Fight in the First Round.

Jake Hager

At Bellator 221, Jake Hager made his return to the cage to face TJ Jones. Jones, with a 1-1 record and  a +500 underdog came out junking and jiving to his theme song, waiting for the All American, Jake Hager. Jake comes with a 1-0 record, came out to his “We, The People” gimmick he used while in WWE confident as ever. Hager and Jones touched gloves to start the fight, and within the 1st round quickly was able to get Jones to the mat and began wearing him down with his wrestling.

Hager was quickly able to get on top of Jones and get an arm triangle on Jones, quickly submitting Jones. Hager, while he did not let go right away of the triangle hold, caused the ref to shout at Hager to get back to his corner after his win. This makes Hager at 2-0 with a very impressive win. At 37 years of age looks better than ever and was eager to make the transition into MMA. During his victory speech, Hager was asked about the hold and said that they have to make sure to get him off of his opponents.

Hager while booed about this, stated he did not know that the ref tapped on Hager to let Jones go because it happened so fast. He then stated “he’s rock hard right now with emotion”. It will be interesting where Bellator and Hager go from here on out with his established win/loss record and wrestling/ground and pound style.
