At today’s NJPW Wrestling Dontaku show Suzuki Gun’s Taichi faced NEVER Openweight Champion Jeff Cobb. Cobb won the title from Will Ospreay at the G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on Wrestlemania Weekend. He was making his first title defence.
Taichi Wins NEVER Openweight Championship
Taichi defeated Jeff Cobb with the Black Mephisto after a long matchup that was much better than Taichi’s usual output. This is Taichi’s second run as NEVER Champion after his first one was cut short at 47 days in late 2018. Cobb continues to stay in the malaise of the NEVER Openweight division as he has challenged for this title a few times since joining ROH. Cobb continues to hold the ROH TV Title.
