Leva Bates, Peter Avalon and Private Party Join AEW

AEW Guide

As All Elite Wrestling (AEW)‘s PPV debut, Double or Nothing, closes in with just over a month away, AEW is slowly finalizing its debut roster and on Monday they added four more talents, in two singles stars and another tag team. In three separate announcements, AEW revealed that Leva Bates had joined AEW’s Women’s Division, West Coast star Peter Avalon was All Elite, and that Private Party was joining the tag team division.

LEVA BATES is The Librarian

Several months ago, AEW announced they wanted to add a character to the company entitled “The Librarian” and invited wrestlers and fans around the world to submit video auditions to be cast as this new AEW character. One of the multiple indie wrestlers who submitted an audition video was a longtime indie veteran, Leva Bates.

Leva Bates is a 12-year indie veteran who has worked for multiple top promotions since debuting in 2007, including SHIMMER, Shine, Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU), RISE, WrestleCircus, IMPACT Wrestling and many more, but to some, she’s best remembered as Blue Pants during a string of appearances in NXT from 2014 to 2015. A cosplay specialist, she’s a perfect fit for the role of a character with such a strong personality. AEW’s Cody Rhodes announced Leva Bates had won the role of The Librarian early on Monday morning.

PETER AVALON as The Librarian

At approximately the same time that Cody Rhodes announced Leva Bates as The Librarian, The Young Bucks took to Twitter to announce that West Coast indie star Peter Avalon, who had appeared on Being The Elite in recent weeks and won over the Bucks and AEW Talent Relations Christopher Daniels, as the new Librarian.

An 11-year veteran of the West Coast scene, Peter Avalon has been a top star with Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, Bar Wrestling, and multiple other West Coast indies, and now is heading national with AEW. With both Avalon and Bates announced for the same role with AEW, it will be interesting to see if this leads to an intergender match where the victor will continue as The Librarian role for the company going forward.

PRIVATE PARTY is All Elite

On last week’s Being The Elite, at the end of the episode, Matt and Nick Jackson were seen discussing new additions to the tag team division, closing with a shot of Nick’s phone and hinting at Canada’s Super Smash Bros joining the AEW tag team division. But prior to that teaser, the brothers discussed a team that was “tearing up the East Coast” and on Monday, that team was finally revealed to be New York City’s Private Party.

From New York City, the tandem of Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy, known as Private Party, have been a huge part of the New York indie scene, most notably as regulars with Amazing Red‘s House of Glory in NYC since their debut together in 2015. Former HOG Tag Team Champions, Private Party has also worked for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Northeast Wrestling (NEW), New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC), and Game Changer Wrestling (GCW).
