Kenny Omega, Young Bucks vs. PAC, Lucha Brothers First Announced Match for CEO x AEW “Fyter Fest”

Fyter Fest - Omega and PAC

A few weeks ago, and following up on last year’s successful event, Kenny Omega announced that he would once again be returning to the CEO Fighting Game Championships to put on a wrestling show. Recently, that show got a name, “Fyter Fest” and a match, pitting Omega and the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) against PAC and the Lucha Brothers (Pentagon and Fenix) for the first time ever.

In June 2018, Omega booked and ran his first official wrestling card, doing so at the CEO Fighting Game Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida. Omega, who had previously attended the event for several years (it’s where his initial battles with Xavier Woods over Street Fighter dominance took place), struck up a friendship with CEO’s founder Alex Jebailey. Together, the two came up with the idea to merge the world of professional wrestling and eSports, and thus, the CEO x NJPW “When Worlds Collide” show was born. When Worlds Collide featured a five-match main card that was headlined by a huge main event of the Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) vs the Los Ingobernables de Japon team of Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi. Other matches included Jyushin Thunder Liger vs Rocky Romero, Jeff Cobb vs Chase Owens, Roppongi 3K (SHO and YOH) vs Dragon Lee and Ryusuke Taguchi and Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa) vs Juice Robinson and David Finlay.

Now, in a direct parody to the Fyre Festival, a much-maligned music festival that was a colossal failure, led to eight lawsuits and criminal charges, and that has since been the subject of two documentaries, Hulu’s Fyre Fraud and Netflix’s Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, AEW x CEO present “Fyter Fest.”

Set to be the “most luxurious gaming and wrestling festival of all time,” all of the luxury packages except one are sold out, and if you want that, the all-inclusive experience complete with a gourmet cheese sandwich, swimming lessons with Pharoah, clipboard, used underwear, pair of possessed cowboy boots, Young Bucks headband, three pack of American Rebel cigars, a V-Trigger Knee to the face, and so much more, you’ll have to be willing to pay $3.5 billion. But really, it’s worth it. Parody packages aside, (actual tickets to the event go on sale in May), the card for Fyter Fest only has two announced matches but both are can’t miss.

It’s been over four months since the original members of the Elite last teamed up in a match, occurring at the NJPW World Tag League in December 2018. Though, that match also featured Marty Scurll. You’d have to go back to August 2018 at the G1 Climax to find the last time just the Young Bucks/Omega trio last wrestled, and back to January 2018 to find the last time they won a match together, defeating the CHAOS team of Jay White, SHO and YOH at The New Beginning in Sapporo.

And while there may be rust there, the OG Elite will be facing a team that has not only wrestled as a team before, but they’ve never even shared a ring. In fact, only once has PAC wrestled with or against two of the men in this match, when he teamed with the Young Bucks back in 2008 at PWG All Star Weekend 7. Outside of that, PAC has never wrestled against Omega or the Bucks and he’s never wrestled with the Lucha Brothers. Not that it should be a problem though as stylistically, those three match up incredibly well.

This should be a great showcase of some of the top talent All Elite Wrestling has to offer and could give us a taste of a future PAC vs Omega singles match, which if you didn’t know you needed it before, you probably feel that way now.

Michael Nakazawa vs Alex Jebailey

Compared to the Lucha Brothers and PAC vs the Young Bucks and Omega, this match isn’t getting as much attention, or frankly any attention at all. But it’s certainly not going to be one to sleep on as for the second year in a row, Jebailey meets Nakazawa in singles action at CEO. But this time, it’s personal. Well, probably, who knows. But anyway, it’s a hardcore match and after an embarrassing defeat last year, Nakazawa will be looking to avenge his loss against CEO’s founder, who is probably booking himself to look strong at his own event.

This could be a sleeper candidate for match of the night when these two warriors of the indies are done with each other.
