On Saturday, April 13, DEFY Wrestling presents Wolves at the Door from the Hawthorne Theatre in Portland, Oregon. This is DEFY’s first event since participating in last month’s massive Wrestle Summit in Los Angeles. That event saw new DEFY Wrestling tag team champions crowned, as Warbeast captured the titles. This event will finally bring to a head a rivalry that has been stirring online between “The baddest motherf***er in professional wrestling,” Schaff, and a man rising up the ranks on the independent circuit and Major League Wrestling (MLW) in Alexander Hammerstone. Fans will also witness the latest title defense of DEFY Wrestling champion Artemis Spencer, as he prepares to square off against a Santino Brothers graduate, a man who has been blazing a trail throughout the Pacific Northwest, particularly in promotions such as PCW ULTRA. Here is the preview for DEFY Wrestling’s Wolves at the Door.
Four Way Match-“Classic” Cody Chhun vs. Guerrero De Neón vs. León Negro vs. Guillermo Rosas
Don’t sit on your hands during this matchup. These four talented young stars all walk in with a couple of goals in mind. First off, they, of course, all intend to walk away as the victors of. And secondarily, even if they do not win, they want to make a strong impression on DEFY Wrestling management in order to eventually be considered as a future challenger to DEFY Wrestling Champion Artemis Spencer. Whether those involved are members of The Pride (Guillermo Rosas), Pride’s rival (Chhun) a luchador in search of redemption (Leon Negro), or just a youngster looking to establish themselves (emerging West Coast star Guerrero de Neon), these four talents are assured of making major noise at Wolves at the Door, helping to set the stage for more opportunities in DEFY over the balance of 2019. Who walks out the winner and stands alone as the potential future of DEFY Wrestling?
Danika Della Rouge vs. Riea Von Slasher
It has been nearly six months since the last women’s match in DEFY. With that said, a women’s contest couldn’t possibly feature two more deserving women. Danika Della Rouge and Riea Von Slasher come to DEFY to show everyone they’re exactly what the rest of the wrestling world will shortly come to see. Della Rouge is a familiar face to DEFY, as she is a veteran of the promotion. She is facing a talented young competitor based out of British Columbia, Canada in Von Slasher. While she may be new to DEFY, she isn’t a stranger to the ring as the tough as nails Von Slasher is a former champion that will use her size and strength to best her opposition. This could certainly be her coming out party. She will be hard-pressed, however, to pull the DEFYANCE faithful on her side as Della Rouge may have the market cornered.
Amerikan Gunz (Ethan HD & Mike Santiago) vs Reno Scum (Adam Thornstowe & Luster The Legend)
With the DEFY Wrestling tag team championships in their sights, the duo of Santiago and HD (Amerikan Gunz) face former IMPACT Wrestling tag team Reno Scum. Fans will recall that the DEFY Wrestling championships are now in the possession of Warbeast, and this match could be an opportunity for the former champions to make a statement and reassert themselves. Reno Scum is a duo that has certainly made a name for themselves competing on television and premier independent promotions along the west coast. Adam Thornstowe and Lustre the Legend have no intention of coming into DEFY with the sole purpose of being a stepping stone to the former champions. Thornstowe and Luster know what it takes to win, and that is exactly what they plan to do when the current APW Wrestling tag team champions walk in and spoil Ethan HD and Mike Santiago’s plans for the evening. Fans can anticipate a match that has more at stake than many would likely credit it for. The implications could be huge.
Schaff vs Hammerstone
Over the past few months, these two monsters of men have been tossing shade, amongst other things, at one another. The chronology of their issues began as recently as January of this year, and fans have been wondering what a match between these two would be like. That escalated into Hammerstone saying that he wasn’t a fan of Schaff to the Schaff fan universe and going as far as to do it in person too. The following month saw the two men face one another, with Hammerstone walking out on their match. Now a couple of months removed from that contest, what will the result be from this new clash between these two massive men? Will Schaff prove to be too much for Hammerstone once again? Or will Hammerstone manage to exact some revenge? The score is sure to be settled this Saturday, one way or another.
Jimmy Havoc vs. Randy Myers
These two men are no strangers to one another, and whenever they face each other the result is usually a peculiar contest pitting danger against weird. We can be assured that Randy Myers will likely attempt to put Jimmy Havoc in an awkward situation at one point or another, while Havoc may pursue Myers seeking to ensure that the ‘weirdo hero’ bleeds, and does so excessively. During their first match against one another at DEFY’s DEFYANCE United, they brought the shenanigans and were just as busy verbally sparring with one another and getting in each other’s head as they were battling physically. The match featured Myers attempting to lock lips with Havoc, followed by the dangerous Englishman’s sinking his teeth into Myers’ tongue, and they took their fight to the floor and in front of the DEFYANCE faithful. Will history repeat itself as these men do battle on the 13?
DEFY Championship- Artemis Spencer (c) vs Jake Atlas
On the heels of a successful title defense at Wrestle Summit, Artemis Spencer squares off against rising star Jake Atlas. Atlas, for those unaware, has been carving a name for himself along the PNW, competing in such growing promotions as PCW ULTRA. This match is sure to showcase just how much of an exceptional talent Spencer is, but at the same time introduce Atlas to a whole new fanbase in the DEFYANCE crowd. Atlas will display his unique and creative offense to a fanbase that will no doubt show him the same respect they have for the DEFY champion in Spencer. A trainee of DEFY Wrestling alumni Brody King, not to mention the Santino Bros Academy, Atlas has seen his share of disappointment and obstacles as injuries have plagued the early part of his career. However, while they may have slowed him down, they haven’t stopped him, and Spencer will face a challenger that will likely be his biggest test to date.
