On the most recent episode of Road To Double Or Nothing, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) got to work announcing the members of their broadcasting team. WWE legend Jim Ross is the eye-catching announcement but he will also be joined by Excalibur, Alex Marvez, Justin Roberts and Alicia Atout as part of the AEW broadcast team.
Jim Ross
Jim Ross is a man that should need no introduction to a wrestling fan, the WWE Hall Of Famer has commentated on some of the biggest matches and moments in wrestling history. Most recently he could be found commentating on New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s AXS TV show and as part of the English commentary team for their US specials. Ross will bring an invaluable 40 years of experience within the Wrestling Business to AEW. While the AEW press release stated Ross had signed a 3-year deal as a Senior Advisor, it did not mention if he’d be returning to the broadcast booth at all, but one would assume he’ll be there in some capacity, maybe even just for PPVs.
Excalibur
The voice of PWG, Excalibur has been one of the best announcers outside the WWE for over a decade. Since 2005 he has been doing commentary for Pro Wrestling Guerrila (PWG) and has also called Championship Wrestling From Hollywood (CWFH), NJPW, CHIKARA, and PROGRESS during his career and was one of the many commentators for All In. His knowledge of the independent wrestling scene will come in handy to counteract Ross and help provide insight into some of the lesser known talents in the company.
Alex Marvez
Marvez is an NFL Insider that hosts Sirius FX radio. He has previously worked for FOX Sports covering the Bengals, Dolphins, and Broncos. It’s a WWE-esque move from AEW as they are recruiting a sports personality to cover Wrestling. Marvez was a well-respected voice in the world of NFL writing and it will be interesting to see if he can transfer this to Wrestling.
Justin Roberts
Former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts has been brought in to do ring duties for AEW. Roberts brings 12 years of experience from the WWE who he worked for from 2002 until 2014. He is probably most famous for his “Rated R Superstar” call for Edge who he has made sporadic comebacks to announce for. Roberts was also involved with All In but brings a familiar voice to AEW.
Alicia Atout
Alicia Atout made her name on her own for her site A Music Blog, Yea? where she got the opportunity to interview various wrestlers. She has spent months as a backstage interviewer for IMPACT, as well as dozens of other indies in the US and Canada, and will serve the same purpose for AEW, a move that was rumored after her recent departure from IMPACT Wrestling.
