Preview: Glory Pro – Aces High (3/31/19)

A lot of companies are going quiet heading into WrestleMania week as they prepare for some big shows in the New York City and New Jersey area, but Glory Pro is carrying on with another big card this weekend, with Aces High this Sunday, streaming live on the IndependentWrestling.tv. It all goes down at the Belleville Fairgrounds in Belleville, Illinois.

“Warhorse” Jake Parnell vs. Tyler Colton

“Warhorse” Jake Parnell has been a rising force on the Mid Atlantic, Midwest and Southern indies the past year, where he’s the current reigning Black Label Pro Indiana State Champion and 2x and defending ZERO1 USA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. A 7-year pro, the 26-year old is just finding his stride as a singles wrestler after starting out in the tag team Viking War Party, and 2019 is looking to be a big year for the young man from nearby St. Louis. He faces a 9-year pro from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Tyler Colton, who’s a long time regular with Winnipeg’s Canadian Wrestling Elite (CWE), where he’s a former CWE Champion. The 6’3″, 270 lb. Canadian grappler made his Glory Pro debut last year and will be looking to up his stock in the US indies with a win over the rising young star Warhorse.

Hakim Zane vs. Eddie Kingston

Photo: Glory Pro

Better known to IMPACT Wrestling fans as Rohit Raju of Desi Hit Squad, Hakim Zane is a veteran of the Midwest indies, including the Michigan scene were he was groomed. While his work as Rohit Raju is more comedic based, as Hakim Zane is a gifted striker and technician who can wrestle with the best of them. He’s going to need that experience when he takes on one of the true headhunters of the past two decades in the US indie scene in Eddie Kingston. A violent powerhouse with a nasty mean streak, Kingston has dominated wherever he’s gone, from CHIKARA to IWA Mid South to Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). He’s currently one half of the EVOLVE Tag Team Champions alongside Joe Gacy in the stable The Unwanted (along with Shane Strickland) and he’ll be looking for another victim in Zane.

Double Tables Match: Four Star Heroes (Chris Castro & Matt Knicks) vs. #NoNewFriends (Mike Outlaw & Danny Adams)

Photo: Glory Pro

Four Star Heroes have been one of the Midwest’s most underrated tag teams of the past eight years, working their way through promotions like Chicago’s GALLI Lucha Libre and Freelance Wrestling (where they’re former Freelance Tag Team Champions), as well as working with EVOLVE, Beyond Wrestling and many others. They face a rising force in Glory Pro in #NoNewFriends, who have been working their way up the ladder in Glory Pro’s tag team division since 2017. Danny Adams has been pairing with Mike Outlaw more of late (the third member is Kevin Lee Davidson), but the trio is finding success regardless which two lace up their boots, and they’ll be looking for a big win over the veterans from the Chicago scene to work towards a shot at the United Glory Tag Team titles.

Fatal Four Way: Jake Lander vs. Kylie Rae vs. Kody Lane vs. PACO

Photo: Glory Pro

A big fatal four-way showcase featuring four rising talents, with no one hotter than Chicago’s own Kylie Rae. A recent signee with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Kylie Rae has been on fire of late, and currently holds four titles – the Freelance Championship, Brew City Wrestling Ladies Champion in Wisconsin, the Capital Wrestling Alliance (CWA) Championship in Delaware, and a 2x Zelo Pro Women’s Champion in Chicago. Jake Lander is entering his fourth year as a pro and the Illinois native has been honing his craft in IWA Mid South, Black Label Pro, Pro Wrestling ZERO1 USA, and All American Wrestling (AAW)Kody Lane is another four year pro from the Texas indie scene, starting out with Anarchy Championship Wrestling, WrestleCircus and Inspire Pro. He began working the Midwest circuit last year, with St. Louis Anarchy, AAW, and Rockstar Pro, as well as the Canadian indies with Alpha-1. PACO is a 6-year pro trained by New Japan’s Michael Elgin, who has become a rising star with AAW, Wrestling Revolver, and Glory Pro the past couple years, and is looking to break out in 2019.

Barackus, Aaron Orion & Sophie King vs. Seishin & Space Pirates (Shane Sabre & Space Monkey)

Photo: Glory Pro

An interesting six-person tag team match-up that features a lot of power versus a lot of athleticism. One one side is the tandem of the powerhouse Barackus, Detroit’s big man Aaron Orion and young starlet Sophie King, who has been working for IWA Mid South the past year. They face the reigning Alpha-1 and Black Label Pro Tag Team Champions Space Pirates (Shane Sabre & Space Monkey) who are teaming up with the mysterious Seishin, the vicious alter ego of Tootie Lynn Ramsey who has been appearing more and more regularly.

Falls Count Anywhere: Jake Something vs. AJ Gray

Photo: Glory Pro

These two have been going at it for most of the year and this Sunday these two emerging stars will face off for the third and (maybe) final time to settle the score once and for all. At Above the Law in January, the two battled to a double count-out, while at February’s Phoenix Rising Anniversary Show, they were part of a Fatal Four Way, that saw Jake Parnell emerge victoriously. Jake Something is a former Crown of Glory Champion looking to get back in the title picture, but first, he must eliminate AJ Gray from the equation, although the current reigning Paradigm Pro Wrestling Champion is looking to add more gold around his waist as well. A Falls Count Anywhere match is fitting for these two warriors, in a match that has to have a winner.

Kobe Durst vs. Joey Lynch

Photo: Glory Pro

A first-time matchup between one of Canada’s hottest rising stars and one of the US indies unheralded veterans. Toronto’s Kobe Durst had a great 2018, that saw him capture the Black Label Pro Indiana State Championship as well as two runs (including being the current reigning) Alpha-1 Alpha Male Champion and Capital City Championship Combat (C4) Champion in his native Canada. He’s facing a veteran of the Southern, Midwest and Mid Atlantic territories in Joey Lynch, whose 17-year career has largely gone underappreciated. But the Georgia native is catching lots of notice of late, including the eyes of the WWE, and will be looking to show the younger Canadian that there’s still plenty of fight left in this Southern boy.

Myron Reed & Stephen Wolf vs. Air Wolf & Ángel Dorado

Photo: Glory Pro

A lot of youth in this tag team match up, that could ultimately decide the next challenger for the United Glory Tag Team titles. Myron Reed is only 21-years old, but he’s a former Crown of Glory Champion and has been one of the US indies top tag team specialists. He’s a former AAW Tag Team Champion with AR Fox, a multiple tag team and trios champion with fellow Rascalz member Trey Miguel (although he didn’t join the stable in IMPACT Wrestling), not to mention a former United Glory Tag Team Champion with his current partner, Stephen Wolf. They face two youngsters who are looking to break out in a big way. Air Wolf is only 19-years old, but the high flyer from Minnesota has already signed with Major League Wrestling (MLW) and is defying the limits of his age and experience. If that wasn’t enough, he’s tagging with another Minnesota product in 17-year old Ángel Dorado, a fellow student from The Academy: School Of Professional Wrestling and trained by the likes of Mr. Anderson, Arik Cannon, Shawn Daivari and Molly Holly. These two are part of the new breed of Minnesota wrestling and will be looking to make a big impact in the Midwest.

Glory Pro Crown of Glory Championship: Curt Stallion (c) vs. Ethan Page

Photo: Glory Pro

Curt Stallion has been the Crown of Glory Champion for 250 days now and is continuing his International Challenge Series of title defences this Sunday. So far he’s bested Down Under’s Australian Suicide, Mexico’s Bandido and Americans Zema Ion (DJ Z) and Jake Parnell, and this Sunday he faces Canada’s “All Ego” Ethan Page. Page has always been a threat in the US indies, but a renewed focus and new training regiment has Ethan Page in the best shape of his career. The reigning Black Label Pro Heavyweight Champion will be eager to add more gold to his collection.

Glory Pro United Glory Championship: The Besties in the World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett) (c) vs. Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix)

Photo: Glory Pro

A huge tag team main event will see one of the best US indie tag teams of the past few years, and reigning United Glory Tag Team Champions, The Besties in the World, lock up with a duo who is arguably the best tag team in the world. The Lucha Brothers are the current reigning IMPACT World Tag Team Champions and former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) World Tag Team Champions, AAA World Tag Team Champions, AAW Tag Team Champions, MLW World Tag Team Champions and The Crash Lucha Tag Team Champions. Winning championships is what they do best. The AEW tandem will be looking for another set of US titles to add to their trophy case on Sunday, but The Besties have been travelling the world of late to hone their precision and chemistry (including recently winning the Fight Club: PRO Tag Team titles in the UK) and the former 2x AAW Tag Team Champions and 2x Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Champions will stop at nothing to retain in their second run as United Glory Tag Team Champions.
