If you were hoping for a Braun Strowman feud going into WrestleMania, then those hopes will have today been dashed. It has now been confirmed by WWE.com that Braun Strowman will be entering the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It would also shoot down rumors that ran this week on some sites that the WWE was thinking of cancelling the annual battle royal, now entering it’s sixth year.
At last year’s WrestleMania, Braun Strowman infamously won the RAW Tag Team Championships with child sensation, Nicholas, while Matt Hardy – with the help of a returning Bray Wyatt – won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The annual battle royal has become somewhat of a curse since it’s inception, with the match failing to elevate its winners. Mojo Rawley, Matt Hardy, Big Show, Baron Corbin and Cesaro have all won the match in recent years and then either gone on to get injured, retire or fail to carry on the momentum.
Whether Braun Strowman can win the match and carry the momentum into a meaningful feud which puts him back at the top of the card remains to be seen. Strowman will enter as strong favourite and will certainly be the star to watch in an annual match lacking in interest.
