Southern Pro Wrestling (SPW) is set to return to the ‘adventure capital of the world’ Queenstown with one of the biggest, and rowdiest shows of the year.
Following on from a brilliant night at Fight For Gold there are many compelling stories and matches which SPW fans will be looking to see this weekend. In particular, Wrestlefest will be headlined by a high stakes Career vs Title match between Kane Khan and the ‘Hooligan’ Marcus Kool.
Brock Duncan vs Paul Sayers vs Charlie Roberts vs Will Stone
Four men will step into the ring on Saturday in order to secure their place in this year’s Southern Rumble. The winner of this match will be the first man entered into the largest event on the New Zealand wrestling calendar.
Whilst the majority of the men in this match are well known to SPW fans one man will be making SPW debut. That man being Will Stone, who has been making waves in the lower levels of New Zealand wrestling but is now ready to step up into the big leagues.
Falcon Kid vs Shane Sinclair
As the saying goes, “styles make matches.” This match is set to see the risk-taking Falcon Kid pitted against the ‘Shooter’ Shane Sinclair.
Will high-flying prove to be the winning strategy or will Sinclair be able to successfully ground Falcon Kid and come out victorious.
Hammer vs T-Rex
In a battle of the powerhouses, the returning Hammer is set to take on T-Rex. Neither of these men are known to back down so expect all-out brute force war.
New Zealand Tag Team Championship- Detention (Sky & Ryder) W/Professor Palmer (c) vs Kingi & Wana Fight
After losing to Detention at Fight For Gold Wana Fight was forced to disband from his former partner Luke Grayson. However, that doesn’t mean Wana Fight is finished with the New Zealand Tag Team Champions as he now has a new partner in the legend Kingi.
The new duo of Kingi and Wana Fight will be looking to finally overcome the champions and their manager Professor Palmer. Will the veteran mind of Kingi prove to be the difference this time around?
Will Power vs Jake Sheehan
After receiving a mysterious video earlier this month it appears the devious CTRL have set their sights on Will Power.
Why could the mysterious group known as CTRL want with Power? And what are their plans for SPW should Sheehan be successful in this match?
It seems that @JakeisinCTRL has targeted @NZWillPower at #Queenstown WrestleFest! 😬#QTWrestleFest pic.twitter.com/Jdx4mulhHT

Career vs Title- Kane Khan (c) vs “Hooligan” Marcus Kool
After picking up the victory over Marcus Kool at Fight For Gold Khan stated that perhaps it was time for Kool to “hang up the boots.”
Not one to ever back down from a challenge Kool quickly accepted. Agreeing that if he can’t hang with the likes of Kool, JK Moody, Will Power and Hammer then yes it was time for him to step away from in-ring competition. However, Kool would only do so if Khan once again defeated him, this time in his adopted home town of Queenstown.
This weekend everything is on the line as Kool risks his career in order to have one last shot at the SPW New Zealand Championship. Will the hometown crowd be enough to spur Kool on to victory or will they witness the end of a fantastic career?
