This weekend a swath of international wrestling stars descend upon Australia to mix it up with the best our country has to offer. One of the major highlights of this World Series Wrestling (WSW) will be the crowning of the first ever WSW Women’s Champion through a tournament format.
Sydney looks to close out the tour with two nights of action beginning on Sunday with the following card.
WSW Tag Team Title Match: Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll & Brodie King) (c) vs Bandido & Flamita
The dastardly WSW Tag Team Champions Villain Enterprises will defend their titles against Bandido and Flamita for a second time on this tour when they face off on night one of the Sydney leg.
Will the result be different from the result in Adelaide this time around?
The Four Nations (Adam Hoffman, Jack Bonza & Mick Moretti) vs SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian)
One of Australia’s most dominant factions, and 2018 Chikara King Of Trios finalists, The Four Nations are set to take on the worldwide megastars SCU.
After settling their differences recently in Pro Wrestling Australia’s (PWA) Fight For Black Metal Colosseum Tournament final The Four Nations are once again a united force to be reckoned with.
Will the combination of technical mastery from Jack J Bonza, the trickery of ‘The Rapscallion’ Mick Moretti and the viciousness of Adam Hoffman be enough to defeat the veteran minds of SCU?
Mat Diamond vs Flip Gordon
Two supreme high-flyers are set to take to the sky in Sydney on Sunday night when Ring of Honor’s Flip Gordon battles Australia’s own Mat Diamond.
Throughout his career WSW World Champion Robbie Eagles, so he will certainly be prepared to take on Flip Gordon.
For Gordon, Diamond may be somewhat of an unknown commodity, which could very well mean he comes into this one underprepared and thus suffers a shock defeat.
Joey Ryan vs Matty Wahlberg
The ‘King of Pong Style’ battles the ‘King of Dong Style’ in this first time ever matchup as Matty Wahlberg takes on Joey Ryan.
This match could very well involve more jaw jacking than actual physicality as both men love to chat with their opponents during their matches.
Wahlberg is rapidly rising through the ranks in Sydney and is the current number one contender for the PWA Heavyweight Championship, so he will be looking to use this opportunity to prove he also belongs on the global stage.
TMDK (Slex & Mikey Broderick) vs Velocities (Paris de Silva & Jude London)
Two Australian tag teams who have been making waves recently are set to face off on their biggest stage to date.
This match will feature an interesting contrast in styles as the high-flying Velocities look to use their quickness to overcome the sheer power and brute force of TMDK.
WSW Women’s Championship Tournament Final: ?? vs ?? vs ??
After three grueling semi-final matchups Sydney will play host to the finals on Sunday evening. As of writing we still do not know who the competitors will be in the final but it will undoubtedly be a momentous occasion as WSW crowns its first ever Women’s Champion.
WSW World Title: Robbie Eagles (c) vs Brian Cage
WSW World Champion Robbie Eagles will have to use his full arsenal of weaponry as he battles ‘The Machine’ Brian Cage.
In previous tours, Cage has had opportunities at the WSW World Championship but he has never faced Eagles so this will be an enticing opportunity for him, given the vast size disparity between the two men.
This will be the first hometown title defense for Eagles’ so you can be assured he will not want to let down the Sydney faithful.
