Preview: World Series Wrestling (WSW) – Defend & Destroy Melbourne Night 1 (3/8/19)

This weekend a swath of international wrestling stars descend upon Australia to mix it up with the best our country has to offer. One of the major highlights of this World Series Wrestling (WSW) will be the crowning of the first ever WSW Women’s Champion through a tournament format.

The second stop of the tour has WSW and its stars arrive in Melbourne for back to back nights of action. Let’s take a look at the action fans will see on night 1.

Abyss vs Gino Gambino vs Syd Parker vs Adam Brooks

Two super heavyweights and two high-flyers step into the squared circle for this contest, in what is sure to be an action-packed fatal four-way contest.

Abyss has been known to bring the violence to his matches, will the feared Janice make an appearance?

The current Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) World Heavyweight Champion Gino Gambino has never been more confident in his abilities, thanks to his dominant run as champion. Gambino will look to keep his dominating streak alive in this match.

Syd Parker and Adam Brooks are perhaps two of the countries finest aerial athletes and will certainly need to use their quickness and athleticism to counter the size discrepancy between themselves and their much larger opponents. Could one of these men stun the field and pick up the victory?

Bandido & Flamita vs SoCal Uncensored (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian)

The luchador team of Bandido and Flamita may be facing their toughest competition ever when they battle the veteran team of Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian.

Sky and Kazarian have many years of experience over their opponents and will look to use that, plus their own high flying skills, to overcome the hottest tag team duo on the planet at the moment.

Slex vs Austin Aries

During previous tours, these two men have been allies, but after a bitter falling out the score needs to be settled.

Slex, who has become a gigantic fan favourite over the last 6-12 months, will be looking to send the detested Aries home with another big L on his resume.

WSW Women’s Championship Tournament Semi-Final: Indi Hartwell vs Kellyanne

The WSW Women’s Championship Tournament continues when two ladies who absolutely cannot stand each other battle it out in the tournament first round.

Both women would enjoy nothing more than to rip the opportunity at championship gold away from the other. So, we can bet these two will leave absolutely everything they have in the ring during this one.

Joey Ryan vs Jordynne Grace

As soon as this matchup was announced the internet was ablaze with debate over who would come out on top. This has become perhaps one of the most anticipated matches of the tour and is certainly not to be missed.

Will Grace’s unmatched power be enough to overcome the mind games and trickery of the sleazy Joey Ryan?

WSW World Title: Robbie Eagles (c) vs Christopher Daniels

In his first championship defense since capturing the gold from Austin Aries on the final night of the last WSW tour, Robbie Eagles is set to face a man he sights as an idol from his childhood.

In a Facebook post last week Eagles shared his thoughts heading into the match;

“There was a young 15 old kid who attended the first International Assault tour in 2005. He watched an amazing match for the X-Division Championship and was inspired to say ‘one day that’s what I wanna do.’ That boy was me, and now I get to have what I truly consider a dream match.”

When one of the competitors in a match says it’s a “dream match” you can be assured it is going to be something incredibly special, DO NOT miss this if you can get to the show!
