This past Saturday night at Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE)‘s Speed King event in St. Neots, England, two titles changed hands, including the SWE World Heavyweight Championship. DDT Pro‘s Shigehiro Irie defeated Rob Lynch, ending his 245-day reign as SWE Champion, as Irie added his first UK championship following a year that has seen him work with Revolution Pro (RevPro), PROGRESS, Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), ATTACK! Pro Wrestling, and Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling in a European excursion that has also seen him work for Germany’s Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), where he was announced for this year’s wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament.

But the focus of Speed King was a 12-person tournament that featured SWE Speed King Champion Senza Volto, NIWA, Ricky Knight Jr., Kelly Sixx, Kay Lee Ray, Lucky Kid, Sean Kustom, Anthony Henry, Robbie X, Rey Horus, Kip Sabian, and CIMA. The six first-round winners went on to compete in the main event match, a Six Way Elimination Match, that ultimately saw Ricky Knight Jr. emerge as the new SWE Speed King Champion. Ricky Knight Jr. is a 3rd generation wrestler from the famous Knight Family (currently seen in the new Dwayne Johnson produced film, Fighting With My Family), the son of Roy Knight, nephew of WWE Superstar Paige and Zak Knight, and grandson of Ricky Knight and Saraya Knight.
