On a night that should have been a memorable one for Laredo Kid, quickly turned into a massacre. The number one contender was to face the now former champion, Sammy Guevara at last weeks “Gira De Conquista 2019” (“Tour of Conquest 2019”), however, could not as Sammy announced he had a family emergency. The announcement came at the top of the show. After a grueling battle with the numbers game against him, Laredo Kid came out the victor thus becoming the new AAA Cruiserweight Champion. This would make him a double champion as he is the current holder of the AAA Trios Championship alongside teammates, El Hijo Del Vikingo and Myzteziz Jr. as the trios team have held those titles for 77 days thus far.

Sammy Guevara has signed with All Elite Wrestling and appeared at the AEW ticket Rally last week. Guevara had previously worked for Major League Wrestling but was recently released by the company. Upon losing his title, Sammy carried the belt around and disrespectfully spat on the title.
In the aftermath of the match, Los Mercenarios ganged up and destroyed Laredo Kid upon getting the pinfall on Guevara. Within the recent weeks, Laredo Kid has been assisting with saving those the likes of La Parka, Psycho Clown and others as the sinister faction led by Konnan and aligning themselves with Killer Kross, have caused havoc all over AAA Lucha Libre.
