Dean Ambrose Gives Notice To WWE

UPDATE: Since the publication of this article originally, WWE has released a statement to the media confirming the reports. “Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”

Reports broke not long after Monday Night RAW that Dean Ambrose has given his notice to management that he will be leaving at the end of his current contract.  First broken by Pro Wrestling Torch overnight, PWInsider confirmed the news through their own sources as well on Tuesday morning, adding that he was “…offered a new, five year contract worth a little over seven figures per year, but turned the deal down” and made management aware that he would be leaving at the end of his current contract at the end of April of this year.

He’s well known as a private man and seems to have saved up a lot of the money he has made during his eight years in the WWE.  Ambrose is reportedly unhappy with WWE’s handling of his character, which has seen him portrayed as a wacky lunatic and more recently a germophobe.  The rumored end date of Ambrose’s contract is shortly after WrestleMania so we will most likely see him written out by the WWE around that time.  On RAW on Monday night, Ambrose put over Seth Rollins clean, which could be the start of him doing the job on the way out.

Before Dean Ambrose ever existed, Jon Moxley was a big name in indies like Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), where his character and microphone work helped him get over everywhere he went.  He also successfully teamed with Sami Callihan as the Switchblade Conspiracy which could make a comeback to dominate the indies.  Ambrose has never been allowed to fully showcase his skills in the WWE and a return to the darker Moxley could be extremely interesting in today’s wrestling climate.
