Since 2017, Wolverhampton, England’s Fight Club: PRO, the UK indie owned by NXT UK’s Trent Seven, has run the Dream Tag Team Invitational tournament, an annual tournament featuring some of the best tag teams in the world. Think of it like a tag team version of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG)‘s Battle of Los Angeles. The third annual installment arrives this April over the weekend of the 19, 20 and 21, for a three-night tournament of hot tag team action. So far there have been four teams of the eight announced, and on Friday, FCP revealed the latest entrant, hailing from US indie CHIKARA.

The Legion of Rot duo of Hallowicked and Frightmare are a solid choice, especially considering that we’ve seen more and more CHIKARA stars working outside of CHIKARA’s bizarro universe. Former 2x CHIKARA Grand Champion Hallowicked recently challenged “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams (now with Ring of Honor) for the Independent Wrestling Championship in Beyond Wrestling. And 2010 Young Lions Cup Champion Frightmare is equal to the task. The followers of Nazgul will have to bring all their black magic powers to England in April, as they will be contending with three of the best teams in the world today.
The Bastard Formerly Known As Neville, PAC, returned to the world of professional wrestling late last year by returning to his former pre-WWE home in Japan, Dragon Gate. He immediately joined the faction RED and has since captured the Open the Dream Gate Championship. He’s entering the DTTI tournament alongside his RED stablemate Eita (who’s won tag gold with T-Hawk and Flamita).
Arguably the best tag team in the world in 2018, IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) have worked for just about everyone in the world. The reigning IMPACT, House of Glory and Wrestle Pro Tag Team Champions have wrestled around the world, with PROGRESS, PWG, Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), Beyond Wrestling, Bar Wrestling, Revolution Pro (RevPro), DEFY Wrestling, CHIKARA, the Chris Jericho Cruise and much more.
What can be said about the Lucha Brothers that hasn’t been already said? Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix are both former Lucha Underground Champions, Fenix is the reigning AAA World Champion, and together they’re the reigning Major League Wrestling (MLW) Tag Team Champions and former PWG and Crash Lucha Tag Team Champions.
