On Saturday night at Carolina Wrestling Federation (CWF) Mid Atlantic’s New Year’s Knockout event in North Carolina, former IMPACT star Trevor Lee announced that he was no longer a free agent and had indeed signed his WWE contract, which has been rumored for several months now.

Trevor Lee had spent the past four years as part of IMPACT Wrestling, where he was a 3x IMPACT X-Division Champion, after emerging as one of the top indie stars in the country. A product of OMEGA, the promotion founded by Matt Hardy and Lee’s father, late indie wrestler Tracy Caddell, Lee was a breakout star in 2015 with standout matches for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), EVOLVE and many other promotions. He recently lost his All American Wrestling (AAW) Heritage title last month, but still remains the CWF Mid Atlantic Champion. While Lee could end up on 205 Live as one of the new names signed by Drake Maverick, he’s more likely going to debut with NXT first. It’s an interesting occurrence though, as WWE generally doesn’t like new signees to announce their signing until the WWE breaks the news first.
