Title For Title: Jordynne Grace vs. Sonya Strong at House of Glory

New York’s House of Glory (HOG) has been one of New York City’s top indie promotions since Amazing Red and Brian XL opened its doors in 2012. They started announcing matches for February’s Recapture the Glory this past week, starting with a huge rematch announced between HOG Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) vs. The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix). The four men just put on arguably the match of the night at IMPACT Homecoming this past Sunday.

But on Thursday, they made a huge title match of international implications, as HOG Women’s Champion Sonya Strong will face PROGRESS Women’s Champion Jordynne Grace one on one, with the stipulation that BOTH titles are on the line. Essentially, one woman is walking away as both the HOG AND PROGRESS Women’s Champion (barring a double DQ or double count out).

New York’s Sonya Strong has been with HOG since her debut in 2015 and emerged as a rising star in the indie scene, working for SHIMMER, RISE, Beyond Wrestling, Women’s Wrestling Revolution and others since she began. This past August, at HOG High Intensity 7, Strong defeated Violette to become the new HOG Women’s Champion, which she’s since defended against Kimber Lee and another emerging star in Kris Stadtlander.

Jordynne Grace was one of the breakout wrestlers of 2018, a star of both intergender and women’s wrestling. She dominated the indies and ultimately debuted with IMPACT Wrestling by the year’s end. The Texas superstar debuted with PROGRESS during their US tour last year, before finally heading over to the UK in November, picking up wins over Isla Dawn and Toni Storm, before defeating Jinny for the PROGRESS Women’s title at PROGRESS Chapter 82: Unboxing Live! 3 in London at the very end of 2018. She had her first title defense last week at Warrior Wrestling in Chicago against Kylie Rae.
