#AndNEW: Artemis Spencer Captures the DEFY Championship

It was a historic night in Seattle, Washington on Friday, December 14th. It was on this night when a new champion was crowned much to the delight of the DEFY Wrestling faithful as DEFY Wrestling presented On Edge. It was at this event when the King of SWERVE lost his DEFY Wrestling championship to growing fan favorite Artemis Spencer. Spencer captured the championship after pinning Shane Strickland for a count of three. Artemis beat longtime champion Shane Strickland in an incredible contest. The match itself went over 20 minutes of back and forth exhilarating action when referee Aubrey Edwards hit the mat for the 1..2…3. While the loss by Strickland may raise eyebrows as to his future it shouldn’t at least not immediately. In losing the title Strickland shows his commitment to DEFY as its most valuable competitor and offering a new opportunity to another hungry young talent. The crowd roared in what was said to be one of the loudest and longest standing ovations in DEFY Wrestling history.

With a new reign raises new questions about its champion. Who is Artemis Spencer to those unaware of his wrestling prowess? Spencer is a 16-year pro that has earned everything that has come his way. In now holding the coveted DEFY Wrestling championship the Maple Ridge, British Columbian has reached a new high in his career. At 6’0 and less than 200ibs, this Cruiserweight hits hard and hits often. While he is no stranger to capturing championships the DEFY Wrestling title is the first title he has won in the United States and one that immediately puts him at the forefront of anyone that will challenge him.

This was a remarkable way for DEFY Wrestling to bring the year out to a close. As 2019 lies ahead so do the list of competitors set to face the NEW DEFY Wrestling champion, Artemis Spencer.
