WWE Performance Center Launches YouTube Channel, Debuts Matt Riddle Web Series

The WWE Performance Center opened its own separate YouTube channel today, immediately stocking it with past content since the Performance Center’s opening in 2013, including video blogs from past WWE Tryouts around the world, interviews with new signees, and training videos. It also debuted the first episode of a web series around one of the company’s newest signees, former indie superstar Matt Riddle. Episode 1, “Arrival”, debuted today.

It would make sense to chronicle a star with the potential of former UFC fighter Matt Riddle, who dominated the global indie scene in the past two years as one of it’s most bankable stars. With NXT only being an hour long each week and having such an immensely deep roster of talents, a lot of talent isn’t getting consistent enough TV time to get emotionally connected as perhaps they should. Having a new YouTube platform to create original content – where it can be seen by everyone – which highlights the other people working with the NXT Brand, both televised, Live Event only, or still at the PC itself, will help to create a recognition and comfortability with the new budding Superstars. After all, as well known as Matt Riddle is in the indie world, there’s still a lot of WWE Universe out there that still don’t really know who he is or what the fuss is about.

Should the Riddle project succeed, it’s likely many more will get similar treatment. Mia Yim, Keith Lee, and Chelsea Green would be ideal candidates. In the meantime, here’s a quick glimpse at some of the short pieces they’ve uploaded so far from their past few years.
