Ronda Rousey and Jessamyn Duke Direct Comments to “Faux Horsewomen”

Last night, our own Marc Madison speculated that Becky Lynch‘s injury – and announcement that Charlotte Flair would be her replacement against Ronda Rousey this Sunday at Survivor Seriescould become the impetus for the long awaited Four Horsewomen War in the WWE. And while it may not happen this Sunday, it definitely looks like the plan is afoot, as two members of the MMA Four Horsewomen have issued statements implying that their stable was going to be in full effect on Sunday.

Many have started to wonder if Ronda Rousey is making the transition to more of a heel character, following her harsh words the past few weeks that have only driven fans closer to Becky Lynch than pulled them further into Rousey’s camp. In fact, it began with many of her comments to the Bellas in the feud prior to this match. People began to notice that a new found cockiness was entering not only her swagger, but her demeanor – where once Ronda was humble for the opportunities in the WWE Universe, now she was decided to re-enforce her dominance and remind people that she is indeed “the Baddest Bitch on the Planet”. After Becky’s attack on Monday night at Raw – and Becky’s appointment of Charlotte as her replacement – Rousey took to her Instagram today to lay down an open challenge to face Becky when she was “100% healed up, prepared, and looking me in the eye when the bell rings.” She went on to say that she would be “sending The Champ a choice piece of Charlotte as a souvenir” of her victory on Sunday, ending the statement with the hashtags #4horsewomenVSfauxhorsewomen

Becky was quick to respond:

As Marc pointed out in his article yesterday, the timing could be ripe for at least the next confrontation between the two factions who share a name, as Rousey’s other three cohorts will all be present in Los Angeles. Shayna Baszler will be defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Kairi Sane the previous night at NXT TakeOver: War Games II, and judging by their interference at WWE Evolution, the final two Horsewomen – Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir – will most likely be in Baszler’s corner. While she won’t be competing on Sunday night due to a “broken face” and severe concussion, there is still a chance that Becky Lynch appears at the PPV on Sunday, perhaps on guest commentary. Should the other three arrive to back up Rousey, you can be sure the Irish Lasskicker will still want to insert herself to protect her “frenemy” against a bigger evil. And the other two NXT Horsewomen – Bayley and Sasha Banks – conveniently aren’t booked for matches for the event. They could be used for a much bigger plot device later in the show – as it evening the odds, should Rousey, Baszler, Duke and Shafir get the better of Flair and Lynch. During the first “official” confrontation at last year’s Mae Young Classic, it was Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair who were the instigators in their confrontation.

Jessamyn Duke took to her own Instagram a few hours after Rousey today and reiterated the strength of the Four Horsewomen and what they have planned for the weekend. “Two belts that need defending”, she stated, referencing both Shayna and Ronda (although Ronda’s belt would be more of a pride thing than an actual title defense), “and statements that need to be made.” It’s interesting that she used the plural, insinuating there would be more than just the first statement at TakeOver: War Games II, and then followed it with four horse emojis and #fourhorsewomen.

It would appear that the MMA Horsewomen have been riled up by the various women of both WWE and NXT and are seemingly ready to show the world their viciousness is matched only by their intensity. And it would seem that the much anticipated War of the Horsewomen is now a matter of when, rather than if.
