Back in early September, Bullet Club‘s Guerrillas of Destiny, brothers Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, announced that Bullet Club was looking to recruit new members. With Bullet Club in a state of divide – with GoD part of the Bullet Club OG unit along with Bad Luck Fale, “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori and Hikuleo – the brothers are looking to strengthen their unit against Bullet Club Elite, which features IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), Cody Rhodes, Marty Scurll, Adam “Hangman” Page, plus OG castoffs Chase Owens and “Tokyo Pimp” Yujiro Takahashi (as well as associates Kota Ibushi and Brandi Rhodes).

After winning the IWGP Tag Team titles this past Sunday at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed in Long Beach, Tama Tonga was asked about the recruiting session and Tonga explained that the next member would be a junior heavyweight to pair with Ishimori as a tag team and that it was down to four potential recruits, two of whom are from the UK, with the other two from Australia and the US.
The new member announcement will most likely come sooner than later, as NJPW is readying to announce the 2018 Super Junior Tag League, traditionally held around the third week of October. With the new recruit to serve as Ishimori’s tag partner, it’s most likely to field an entrant into the Junior Tag League tournament, that this year will move to a block system (like G1 Climax Series) rather than single elimination.

No surprise that two of the four names being looked at are from the UK scene – New Japan is allied with London’s Revolution Pro (RevPro), so adding a RevPro/UK star would make sense. Some names that could be in consideration are RevPro British J Cup winner El Phantasmo (although Canadian, he’s been a regular in the UK scene for the past year), CCK’s Chris Brookes (who turned down a WWE NXT UK deal earlier this year), or recently returned PAC (formerly WWE Superstar Neville), who returned in Japan this week with Dragon Gate. In their initial recruitment videos, the Tongans mentioned that the new members could be male or female, so the potential to see a new women’s member for Bullet Club is a possibility.
