The WWE wrapped up filming for the Mae Young Classic last night, although not without tragedy. But by all accounts, the tournament was a huge success and fans online praised the work of all involved. It was revealed that the Mae Young Classic will make it’s return to the WWE Network on August 29, but instead of having bulk episodes loaded up like last year, it would be a weekly show, airing directly after NXT on Wednesday nights at 9pm. The August 29 date will be the launch, starting with the traditional Bracketology special, with the first set of matches from round one starting on September 5 the following week. It was also revealed that the announce team will be lead by Michael Cole, with color commentary by Beth Phoenix and Renee Young.

Without spoiling any of the tournament results, we can tell you what the brackets will look like for the 2018 edition and it really shows the depth of this year’s tournament. Much like last year, there’s definitely some dream matches, but for those who have seen the spoilers, there were some upsets galore. And while some have been vocal about some of those upsets, with such a loaded roster this year, realistically 28 of the 32 women had legitimate chances of winning it and first round losses in a tournament are never a bad thing or a burial – other tournaments like the New Japan Cup or PWG‘s Battle of Los Angeles have shown that the matches can be as important as the results.
