Not the first time
This isn’t Cabana’s first time in Puerto Rico. In the mid 2000s, he was part of a tour for International Wrestling Association (IWA), wrestling alongside Bison Smith and Savio Vega, among others. Later, early this decade, Cabana and WWE Superstar Sami Zayn – then El Generico – came to the island for Puerto Rico Wrestling Association. In that show, Cabana lost, while El Generico won his match against Erick Scorpion (now Vassago in World Wrestling League).
Cabana’s love for the island is evident. When Hurricane Maria destroyed the island, he, alongside ROH announcer Ian Riccaboni and Puerto Rican/New Japan Pro Wrestling wrestler Rocky Romero, raised funds in Florida for the those who were devastated by the hurricane. In an interview with Joel Torres of Contralona PR, Colt explained that, although he had been in Japan, United Kingdom and doing commentary for ROH, he hasn’t been in Puerto Rico for a long time and that he wanted to wrestle again in the island.
CWA’s Biggest is shaping up
CWA Christmas Showdown now has two international stars and their roster for their biggest event in history. The company will have their show after ROH’s final event of the year, Final Battle, which makes it obvious that ROH stars will be free to work that Sunday for CWA. The company will announce more names in the future, expect see names like a returning Jay Lethal or other ROH and Indie stars for the show. CWA is now sitting with the biggest venue for wrestling in Puerto Rico in 2018 and it could shatter some records.
