One of the innovative new concepts that Impact Wrestling has brought to their table is the utilization of their Twitch channel to hold special events, co-branded with other indie promotions around the world, and broadcast for free. This year alone has seen fantastic cards such as the recent RISE of the Knockouts with RISE Wrestling, Impact vs. Wrestling Revolver: Penta Does Iowa, Impact vs. Destiny World Wrestling: Last Chancery, Impact vs. Wrestle Pro: Brace for IMPACT, and their critically acclaimed Impact vs. Lucha Underground event over WrestleMania weekend. This weekend sees the next co-branded Twitch special, Impact vs. AML: Confrontation, live on Impact’s Twitch channel Sunday, July 29 at 4pm EST, this time teaming with North Carolina’s America’s Most Liked (AML) Wrestling.
Preview: Impact vs. AML Wrestling: Confrontation
NOTE: This is our projected line up but the match order has not been confirmed by either AML or Impact Wrestling. All matches are confirmed matches for the event, however.
Zane Dawson w/ George South vs. Fallah Bahh
Zane Dawson is going to be an angry man going into this match up against Impact’s Fallah Bahh. A regular in the Carolinas, he recently lost the AML Championship to Caleb Konley (ending his 454 day reign) as well as his Tag Team titles in his other regular promotion, Carolina Wrestling Federation (CWF) Mid-Atlantic, which he’d held for 392 days. The big man has a lot of opponent in Fallah Bah, but with Carolina’s legend George South (a journeyman with the NWA, WWE and WCW throughout the 80s and 90s), it should even the score.
AML PRESTIGE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH, FAN’S CHOICE: Billy Brash (c) vs. Brandon Scott vs. Devin Driscoll vs. Sean Denny vs. Suicide vs. Gifted One Yahya
Another Carolinas mainstay, Billy Brash, just won the AML Prestige title (in a 6-man Ladder Match in May at AML Battle at the Fairgrounds) and for his first title defence, he’s put back into another 6-man match-up, this time a Fan’s Choice match voted on by the fans on Twitch on Sunday (the options are Ladder Match, Battle Royal or Gauntlet). A 2x PWX Innovative Television Champion with another Carolina promotion, Premiere Wrestling Xperience (PWX), Brash has the ability, but he faces some hungry opponents in former Prestige champion (and MCW Pro regular) Brandon Scott, Innovate Pro Wrestling (IPW)‘s big man Devin Driscoll, multi-time tag champion Sean Denny (one half of the Geordie Bulldogs), and emerging star Gifted One Yahya (who was trained by George South, Cedric Alexander and Caleb Konley). Impact’s mysterious masked luchador Suicide makes a return to the ring to join the fray, adding chaos to an already chaotic situation.
Chris Payne vs. Eddie Edwards
Chris Payne makes his return to the Impact Twitch specials, this time in singles action. Back in February, he teamed with Impact’s Matt Sydal to take on The Heavenly Bodies (Desirable Dustin & Gigalo Justin) in tag action for the Impact vs. Wrestle Pro special. This time though, Payne – a regular with Wrestle Pro who got his first big run with Pro Wrestling Syndicate (PWS) – goes one on one with Impact’s loose cannon, Eddie Edwards. Depending on the mood Edwards is in, this one could get violent.
AML TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: Extreme Horsemen (CW Anderson & Damien Wayne) vs. Heavenly Bodies (Desirable Dustin & Gigalo Justin)
Speaking of The Heavenly Bodies, they too make their return to the Impact Twitch specials, this time looking for gold. They face The Extreme Horsemen, featuring former ECW Superstar CW Anderson and his partner Damien Wayne, the current reigning AML World Tag Team Champions. The Bodies are going to have to dig down deep to beat two guys used to getting their knuckles bloody and with gold on the line, aren’t going to soften up even a little.
Axton Ray vs. Eli Drake
Tennessee’s Axton Ray is a 3x IPW Television Champion and former AML Prestige Champion but he’s got his hands full with his challenger on Sunday. He’s going to be looking across the ring at a former Impact World Heavyweight Champion in Eli Drake and Drake’s mind games will be in full force as he’ll be determined to prove that Axton is just another dummy in a long line of dummies…yeah!
Jaxon Stone vs. Moose
Jaxon Stone is a Texas son who is starting to make waves in the indie circuits after debuting in 2015. In 2016, he began working with Germany’s hard hitting Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) and last year made his debut with Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). This year saw his passport get stamped by IWA Mid South, PWX, Limitless and more, including AML. He’s going to be facing a man who will be no doubt looking to prove a point, in “Mr. Impact Wrestling” Moose. Moose lost a close one to Impact World Champion Austin Aries last Sunday at Slammiversary XVI and will looking to send a message to Aries that he’s not done yet.
Kristen Stadtlander vs. Allie vs. Tessa Blanchard
A huge opportunity for Kristen Stadtlander, the first female graduate from the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy, the school run by WWE Superstar Curt Hawkins and Wrestle Pro owner Pat Buck. Apart from working with Wrestle Pro, she’s also worked with CZW, Women’s Wrestling Revolution (WWR) and Women’s Superstars Uncensored (WSU), facing the likes of Impact’s Rosemary as well as other indie stars like Maria Manic and former 2x Impact Knockouts Champion Sienna. Unfortunately, she’s going to be caught in the crossfire of a very real feud between Impact’s Allie and Tessa Blanchard, with the possibility of Tessa’s Hall of Fame father, Tully Blanchard, at her side (he’s appearing at the event in an as yet unnamed capacity). On the flip-side, if Stadtlander plays her cards right, she could let the two beat each other and steal herself a win in the process.
AML Championship Match: Caleb Konley (c) vs. Matt Sydal
The main event sees Cult of Lee member Caleb Konley defend his recently acquired AML Championship against fellow Impact star Matt Sydal. Sydal just lost his X-Division title this past Sunday and will hoping that his “Third Eye” will be more open that this past weekend, but Konley has been a regular with AML since 2016, so will definitely have the home crowd advantage.
