At Slammin for Shabbos 3, David Starr, one of wrestling’s top rising stars, took on the established indy veteran Colt Cabana, for what is being called the Jew North American Title.
Not only is that a real championship, but it’s not even the only title that was up for grabs as the Shabbos Championship was defended in a battle royale which featured celebrity guests, United States President, Donald J. Trump, and Dear Respected Comrade, Kim Jung Un, whose official title reads, “Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army.”
Also appearing at the event were former Shabbos champions, the Yid and Muscles from Morocco, as well as independent wrestler and entertainer, Celine Jian.

I repeat, none of this is ‘fake news.’
Slammin for Shabbos, which began in 2016, is an annual event which doubles as a fundraiser for Tomchei Shabbos of Toronto, an organization that helps to deliver food essentials to needy families in the region. The price of admission includes the show, food, and an open bar. In the past, former WWE legends including Brutus “the Barber” Beefcake, Nikolai Volkoff and most recently, Jake “The Snake” Roberts have all made appearances in support of the cause.

The main event, however, was, of course, Cabana vs Starr. In front of some 400 men of Jewish heritage, in someone’s backyard in Toronto, possibly even that of a local synagogue, the 38-year-old Cabana and the 27-year-old Starr, both of whom are two of the most prominent Jewish wrestlers on the independent circuit today, met for the first time.
Footage of the match has not yet made its way online but we do know that it was the 19-year veteran of the industry, Colt Cabana, that emerged victorious as the new Jew North American Champion, a title that is also being referred to among the IWC as the “Jewniversal Championship” likely due to its resemblance to WWE’s Universal Championship. Plus, it’s a great excuse to work in a Jew-based pun.
**FOLLOW UP**
We have arrived at the venue.
It is literally in a backyard.
There are LED lights set up. Fireworks/pyro ready.
400 presold tickets to exclusively Orthodox Jews at $180 CAN a pop.
The neighbor has threatened to call the police and to sue.
I love wrestling. https://t.co/Sk7YhEHCHh

According to Cage Match’s wrestling database, this marks Colt Cabana’s 28th pro wrestling title and first since 2014 when alongside Grado as IRN JEW, he won the Insane Pro Wrestling tag team championship. Cabana only held that title for 14 days, whereas his run as Jew North American champion could last much longer if he only defends it at the Slammin for Shabbos annual events. Perhaps he’ll take the belt on the road however and give Starr another chance to claim his destiny as the greatest active Jewish wrestler on the planet.
In the meantime, Mazel tov to Colt Cabana, the reigning, defending, undisputed Jew North American Champion of the World!
