ROH Honor United UK Tour Shaping Up

Ring of Honor is heading over to the United Kingdom next week for a three day tour called Honor United, that will see stops in Edinburgh, Scotland (May 24), London, England (May 26) and finally, Doncaster, England (May 27). The tour will feature many top ROH stars, as well as some familiar faces from NJPW. Adding some homegrown flair, the events will also feature some appearances from homegrown UK talent. The UK scene’s buzz continues to blossom, with the recent announcements of the upcoming WWE UK Championship Tournament, the PROGRESS tours of Australia, and the impending return of World of Sport. Honor United continues to build on ROH’s strong ties in the UK, thanks in part to the alliance with RevPro UK in the IWGP Conception with NJPW. Speaking of RevPro, they’re helping NJPW with their two Strong Style Evolved UK shows June 30 in Milton Keynes, England and the following night (July 1) in Manchester.

Here’s a quick look at the cards for ROH’s three nights of Honor United so far (there are still matches to be announced and this is not confirmed match order).

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, May 24

The biggest news is arguably that NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis is joining the tour, competing in Edinburgh, Scotland in a tag team match against The Young Bucks. Aldis’ has yet to announce his mystery partner, but this is easily the start of the program that will culminate at September 1’s ALL IN event, where Aldis will be defending his NWA title against Bullet Club‘s Cody Rhodes. As of this writing, Aldis isn’t scheduled to wrestle again on the tour, but he is slated to appear at the London show to address the entire ALL IN situation. As far as local heroes go, Joe Hendry is as prestigious as they get, and the Scottish star (and former Defiant World Champion) will be making his first appearance for ROH since 2016 when he takes on Silas Young for the ROH World Television Championship (Hendry was part of ROH’s 2016 Reach for the Sky tour of the UK, where he suffered two losses to Donovan Dijak and Jay White). With Women of Honor on the tour, another UK talent is joining the fray, as “The Queen of Chavs” Chardonnay joins the tour. In Edinburgh, Chardonnay will team with Kelly Klein to face the tandem of WOH Champion Sumie Sakai and Tenille Dashwood.

LONDON, ENGLAND, May 26

While the Edinburgh card looks nearly finalized, the two England shows are still having announcements. NWA World Champion Nick Aldis is scheduled to address his match at ALL IN against Cody Rhodes (possible interference in Cody’s match against Kenny King?), but as of this writing, no UK talents announced for the show yet, but still a fun card featuring lots of ROH and NJPW stars.

DONCASTER, ENGLAND, May 27

The final night of the tour is still shaping up as well, but Worcestershire’s Chardonnay gets a WOH title shot against Sumie Sakai. The rising UK star is actually spending most of her days in Japan with Stardom, where she’s a member of Io Shirai‘s Queen’s Quest stable. This marks the first WOH title match on international soil, between two well verse international opponents.
