Match Point: Suzuki-Gun vs CCK (5/11/2018)

Suzuki Gun vs CCK

Match Point is an on-going series at Last Word on Pro Wrestling, where we look at intriguing matchups in indie wrestling and beyond. They may be dream matches, first-time matchups, or hotly anticipated rematches. Today’s edition focuses on a highly anticipated tag team match set for Revolution Pro’s Epic Encounter on May 11, as the team of Zack Sabre Jr. and Minoru Suzuki (Suzuki-Gun) will be defending their Undisputed British Tag Team Championships against Travis Banks and Chris Brookes, representing CCK.

Minoru Suzuki is going to be stepping inside a RevPro ring for the fourth time by May. He debuted for the York Hall crowd back in November 2017 at Global Wars Night one, where he & Zack Sabre Jr. faced Hirooki Goto and Will Ospreay in a losing effort. One day later the King of Suzuki Gun defeated Matt Riddle in an international dream match between two MMA veterans in a hard-hitting match. The man with the worst personality in the world returned to London in January and subsequently showed the superiority of Japanese Strong Style over Britsh Strong Style when Sabre And Suzuki took the British Tag Gold off of Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate). After the match, CCK entered the stage and challenged the champions which led to this match.

Four of the best in Europe and the world will be in the ring together for this dream match. The towel-covered bald head of the now-former IWGP Intercontinental Champion paired with the deafening chant of “Kaze Ni Nare” in the York Hall is intimidating for any human and could make the difference together with the experience of the man who will be celebrating his 30th anniversary inside the squared circle in June. Suzuki debuted 6/23/1988. The anniversary is named the “Great pirates festival” which seems to be a reference to “One Piece” which Suzuki is highly interested in.

If Suzuki-Gun is able to retain the championships, they are truly taking over the world. The team of Suzuki and Sabre is the perfect storm: two versatile technicians with gruelling strikes and kicks, paired with chops and a sadistic side in each of them. CCK has to dig down deep to keep up with the rule-bending tactics and merciless assault of Suzuki-Gun. CCK never had the tag belts of the company from Sittingbourne, Kent, England. They’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Prediction: CCK

Hope: Suzuki-Gun Ichiban
