WrestleMania Week Olympics: Thursday Night Standings

WrestleMania week is chock full of WWE and indie events starting on Thursday night, with multiple promotions running showcases (often in conjunction with each other) every day and night. With so many top events, multiple wrestlers are performing many matches over the course of the week, some competing multiple times a night or day. In the spirit of good fun, we’ll keep track of everyone’s performance over the week to see who takes the Gold Medal for most performances over the week. Here’s the leaders after Night One, that included GCW Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport, WWE WrestleMania Axxess Night One, EVOLVE 102, WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow, and Beyond/WRR Lit Up. For tie breakers, we’ll be assigning a point system – 3 pts for a WIN, 2 pts per member for a Tag Team WIN, 1 pt for a NO CONTEST or WIN BY DQ, 5 pts for a WIN that wins a Championship.

Matt Riddle, 3 matches (2-1-0, 8 pts)

Matt Riddle started off with a bang, with three matches on his opening night. He began with a tough contest at his own even, GCW Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport, losing his opening match against IWGP Intercontinental Champion Minoru Suzuki. In his second match, he redeemed himself, beating Zack Sabre Jr. for the EVOLVE Championship at EVOLVE 102. For this last match, he defeated Deonna Purrazzo in a fun intergender matchup at the Beyond/Women’s Wrestling Revolution co-production Lit Up.

“Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams, 3 matches (1-2, 3pts)

The leader of Catch Point definitely lead by example on opening night, appearing three times, beginning with a loss to Eddie Kingston at Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport. He then teamed with fellow Catch Point member Dominic Garrini at EVOLVE 102, but came up short against The End (Odinson & Parrow). He finally got some redemption at Beyond/WWR Lit Up, defending his Powerbomb.tv Independent Championship against Kimber Lee.

Timothy Thatcher, 3 matches (1-2, 2pts)

Ringkampf’s Timothy Thatcher had a busy night with three matches but only scored the victory in his tag match with WALTER against the Japanese duo of Daisuke Sekimoti & Munenori Sawa in a hard hitting classic at EVOLVE 102. In his first match of the day, he lost to Nick Gage at Bloodsport, and at Beyond/WWR’s Lit Up, he was defeated in a tough contest to Toni Storm.

Chris Dickinson, 3 matches (0-3, 0pts)

Catch Point had a lot of names involved on night one (including former leader Drew Gulak at Axxess), with Chris Dickinson also having three matches on opening night. Unfortunately, he went the big donut, going 0-for-3 in his matches, starting with a singles loss to Dan “The Beast” Severn at Bloodsport. He joined his Catch Point/Doom Patrol partner Jaka for his next two matches, but lost in a tag team scramble at EVOLVE 102 against The End, and then faced defeat again at Lit Up to The Twisted Sisters (Holidead & Thunder Rosa)
