#AndNEW: Chicano Wins the WWC Puerto Rican Championship

Last Sunday, Chicano won the oldest active title in Puerto Rico, the World Wrestling Council (WWC) Puerto Rican championship, and in the process became a 7-time champion, sixth on the list with most reigns.

WWC had a live show in Dorado, Puerto Rico and in the semi-main event, Chicano faced off against now former Puerto Rican champion Gilbert in an Extreme Rules match. Chicano end up all bloodied up, where tacks and other instrument were all over the place, but, at the end, would have his arm raise for the victory.

Chicano is one the best active wrestlers from the island, know for his immense arsenal of moves and previously for the best matches in the island against the likes of Mr.450, Bullet Club OG Tama Tonga (in Mexico) and even the legendary Bison Smith. His last title reign as Puerto Rican champion was a memorable one, having consistently defended (in the process with a 224-day reigns) the title in absence of at the time the WWC Universal Champion, Carlito.

Chicano lost the Puerto Rican title at the start of 2017 in a Batte Royal against Puerto Rican standout Mike Mendoza. He would fly under the radar in WWC, wrestling in other places like Liga Elite in Mexico and in other countries like Austria and Chile. Now, in the third show of WWC in 2018, Chicano is back on top of the mid-card as the Puerto Rican champion.

After the bout against Gilbert, the man that had lost the title before the disaster that was Hurricane Maria, Lightning, approached the newly crowned champion and in the process was very clear that him (Chicano) had a new challenger for his newly won championship.

Chicano is the active wrestler with most times as WWC Puerto Rican champion with seven and is only surpass by Jose Rivera Jr., Carlos Colon and Jose Gonzalez (Invader I).
