Bullet Club Leadership Divided As Battle Lines Are Drawn

It’s no secret tensions are ripe in Bullet Club as it’s two alpha males, Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes, continue to but heads at the top of the leadership race. It’s been mounting for the better part of a year and only escalated in recent weeks, throughout recent episodes of Being The Elite, through the recent NJPW tour of Australia this past weekend. In this week’s edition of Being The Elite, aptly entitled “Pull Apart”, the film crew follows Bullet Club in their travels to Australia. During the episode, Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks calls a meeting with the Bullet Club OG, the original faction from Japan that features Tama Tonga and Bad Luck Fale, to make sure that everyone is still on the same page, which they reluctantly seem to be. But by the show’s end, tensions between Omega and Cody boil over and the locker room has to pull them apart (although Tama Tonga calmly just sits back and watches it happen like a boss).

Following the weekend’s activities, Pro Wrestling Tees launched a campaign of new merchandise for fans to weigh in on their choice of leadership, with new limited edition “Team Kenny” and “Team Cody” designs.

Despite Cody’s insistence that “Bullet Club is fine”, the mantle of leadership is clearly in serious question, as Omega contends he is still the leader (despite reuniting with non-Bullet Club member Kota Ibushi in Golden Lovers), while Cody Rhodes has added “Bullet Club Leader” to his Twitter profile. The other members of Bullet Club, particularly Tama Tonga, have grown weary of the entire ordeal, with Marty Scurll seemingly weary of his own desire to stay in the Bullet Club, and The Young Bucks insisting that the two embattered rivals need to sort it out themselves. The two will indeed be matching up at Ring of Honor‘s biggest show to date (attendance wise), when Omega faces Cody one on one at ROH Supercard of Honor XII on Saturday April 7 over WrestleMania weekend.
