This week’s media Impact Wrestling media teleconference featured Braxton Sutter and Allie. Married since 2013, the two are both members of the Impact Wrestling roster. They also have a dog named Hulk Hogan. Yes, like that Hulk Hogan. Rather than their dog, the topics of discussion tended to revolve around the two as a couple.
When the two met, it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. Allie says “we met in a company called PWX in St Thomas, Ontario. That was, I want to say, around 2008. We were both doing our own thing. It wasn’t until about 2012 that we were both available. We talked once, we ended up talking for two or three hours about horror movies and music.”
“We knew each other for about four years before we ever actually got together,” Sutter added. “For us, I always feel like it’s the exact opposite, a lot of times, you hear the story of ‘it’s so hard, you travel so much, you’re apart from each other.’ For us, it’s the exact opposite. For me, being with somebody who wasn’t in the wrestling business it was tough. And now, with me and Allie together, we’re passionate about the same thing. She understands what I’m going through, I understand what she’s going through. If we do travel, we get to appreciate the time we’re together more.”
Braxton and Allie have said they are interested in intergender wrestling, specifically as a team. “B.S. and I were a team on the indies. Not so much wrestling, I usually managed him, but we had the opportunity to have some intergender matches. I would love to share a ring with B.S. in Impact. I think that would be so much fun. We have really good chemistry, just natural chemistry, so I think it would be a lot of fun to explore that dynamic on Impact.”
Sutter agreed, stating “intergender wrestling definitely has something special to offer. With it growing, there’s definitely a market for it now. There’s been so much attention on it. Like a lot of things, as long as it’s done right, it’s awesome. It’s something different. It’s super cool to watch.”
The couple hasn’t always been so keen on teaming, or even being involved in the same match. “We tried to keep that separate for a while. It just so happened we got thrown together for something, and we realized right away that we had chemistry. And then we had the opportunity to work for CZW about four years. Everything started moving for us, once we got together and worked together and encouraged each other. He brings a side of me out that I didn’t have and I bring aside of him out that he may not have realized he had. I think that dynamic has really helped us both… We’re a solid team.”
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, the two discussed their plans for the holiday. “We’re real homebodies. Whenever we get the opportunity to stay home, we do. A lot of it has to do with our dog since he can’t stay home by himself for ten minutes. Otherwise, he howls and our neighbors go insane. So whenever we can stay at home with him, we do.” Braxton Sutter and Allie might keep things simple at home, but with Allie involved in a feud with Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness, and with Sutter returning to Impact, things seem to be anything but simple. With Impact Wrestling entering a new era, 2018 looks like it will be Allie and Braxton Sutter’s year.
