At tonight’s NXT Tapings, held again at the Center Stage (former home of WCW Saturday Night from 1989-1996), former NXT Tag Team Champion Wesley Blake debuted with his new tag team, The Forgotten Sons, with Steve Cutler. The two also made the announcement that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was returning in 2018 (after missing 2017), with the tournament starting this round of tapings.

Blake Wesley is the most recognizable of the two, as he was NXT Tag Team Champion with Buddy Murphy in (aptly named) Blake & Murphy. The tandem worked together from 2014 to 2016 and held the NXT Tag Team titles for 219 days – the only longer reign was The Ascension at 364. They duo was managed by current Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss (who is engaged to Buddy Murphy).
Steve Cutler joined the WWE Performance Center in 2014, after starting as a protegee of Larry Sharpe and the Monster Factory in 2013. He’s spent years as a WWE Performance Center “project”, before he was paired with Blake in October of 2016 in a 6-man tag with Samoa Joe against Cedric Alexander, Shinsuke Nakamura and Tye Dillinger. It wasn’t until April of 2017 that the two began to team regularly, but it seems that they’re now officially a new entry into the NXT Tag Team division and now working under the name Forgotten Sons.
