A tweet sent out earlier by the official NXT Twitter account confirmed that Ricochet officially signed with the WWE. While this was a foregone conclusion after no longer taking independent bookings and dropping the PWG World Championship at Mystery Vortex V, fans can stop speculating about the former Prince Puma‘s future.

Many expect the signing of Ricochet to be the first of many major independent stars to be heading down to the Performance Center. While only 29 years old, the 15-year veteran has held titles in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, Evolve, Chikara, Dragon Gate, and several other promotions globally. He was ranked 15th in 2016’s PWI 500, and has also won numerous awards from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. If fans hadn’t heard of him from any of the previously mentioned accomplishments, he set the world on fire with a match against Will Ospreay. The Best of the Super Juniors match set Twitter on fire nearly immediately and is still talked about to this day.

According to many reports, Lucha Underground had offered Ricochet one of the highest paying non-WWE contracts in all of professional wrestling. He opted instead to sign with the Stamford, Connecticut based company. Ricochet officially signing with the WWE is expected to be the first of several independent signings this year. This is a major get for the WWE, as many have considered the highly-decorated wrestler to be one of the most innovative high-flyers in years. When and where we will see him on the various stages of the WWE roster has yet to be announced, but the WWE Universe undoubtedly waits with baited breath.
