At tonight’s Impact tapings in Orlando, the Feast or Fired match made it’s return to the company for the first time since 2016. The concept of the match is similar to a Money In The Bank match, where competitors vie for several briefcases around the ring, but with the added stipulation that while most will contain contracts for title shots for respective titles (Impact World Heavyweight Championship, Impact X-Division Championship or Impact World Tag Team Championships), there is one that contains a pink slip resulting in the termination of one wrestler’s contract.

The winners of the four briefcases tonight were Ethan Carter III (EC3), Eli Drake, Moose and Petey Williams. With various reports that EC3 could be leaving Impact Wrestling when his contract expires shortly, it would seem that Feast or Fired is the route they may be going to write EC3 out of Impact television.

Moose and Petey Williams are both very much long term players with Impact Wrestling, primarily due to their loyalty to one of Impact Wrestling’s current bosses, Scott D’Amore. Both were trained by D’Amore at his Can-Am Wrestling School in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Eli Drake has also been positioned very high of late, including a lengthy run as World champion and there doesn’t seem to be any indication that Drake will lose that main event spot, despite losing the World title two days ago at the start of the tapings.
EC3 recently lost his Grand Championship to Matt Sydal and according to reports, lost cleanly to a returning Tyrus tonight at the tapings. Tyrus returned as Eli Drake’s bodyguard after walking out months previously due to grievances with former creative director Jeff Jarrett. Tyrus is replacing his own replacement, Chris Adonis (formerly Chris Masters in the WWE), who announced he was departing Impact earlier today.

Feast or Fired made its debut in 2007 at TNA Turning Point and was held for three straight years until 2009. It went dormant for a few years until making its return in 2013. It skipped a year and returned for 2015 and 2016, but there was no Feast or Fired in 2017. The six who received their pink slips were Low Ki (2007), Curry Man (2008), Shawn Daivari (2009), Chavo Guerrero Jr. (2013), Velvet Sky (2015), and Grado (2016).
The briefcases were ultimately opened at the end of the tapings, with Eli Drake getting a shot at the Tag Team titles, Petey Williams at the X-Division, coming down to the final two of Moose and EC3.
