Preview: RevPro Uprising 2017 (12/08/2017)

Revolution Pro UK (RevPro) teams up with Ring of Honor for RevPro Uprising 2017, with their first show back at the York Town Hall in a year, which sees a Bullet Club invasion on UK soil. Here’s a rundown of the card.

Dave Mastiff vs Martin Stone

Dave Mastiff spoke on Twitter about reclaiming the British Heavyweight Title, so this might potentially be a number one contenders match for Mastiff. Martin Stone (also known as Danny Burch in NXT) is a UK veteran whose also worked with Impact Wrestling. The 35 year old is a former wXw and Rev Pro Tag Team champion and will be quite the hard hitting opponent for Mastiff.

Prediction: Dave Mastiff

Jinny’s Open Challenge: Jinny vs. ???

The first women’s match in RevPro in York Hall. This is the first test before the women’s tournament in January. Jinny has been working over Europe for a few months now, being a participant in wXw´s womens tournament. The crowd will most likely cheer the match either way. The mystery opponent is an interesting concept for a debut match.

Prediction: Jinny

Pete Dunne vs Eddie Dennis

The remaining man in British Strong Style returns to RevPro to face Eddie Dennis. The current WWE UK Champion vs a former PROGRESS Tag Champion. Dennis just recently (as of July 2017) turned pro and worked as a Math teacher before and is now making a name for himself in the European Independent scene.

Prediction: Pete Dunne

British Cruiserweight Championship: Flash Morgan Webster (c) vs. Ryan Smile vs David Starr vs El Phantasmo vs Kurtis Chapman

This one should be crazy, dives and flips everywhere. Flash Morgan Webster makes his return to York Hall after nearly 2 years. Phantasmo had his first match in the UK this June and is returning to York Hall for this title match. Kurtis Chapman is only 19 years old, which makes him quite the promising talent for the future of the UK scene. Ryan Smile and David Starr are the veterans in this match and the favorites for the title at the same time. This one should be short and great.

Prediction: Flash Morgan Webster retains his British Cruiserweight Championship

ROH World Heavyweight Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs Jay Lethal

Cody Rhodes has been making a name for himself since he left WWE, working high profile matches in ROH and NJPW. He recently introduced the “Ring of Honor” to Ring of Honor and has made strides in trying to carry the company into the future (which shows the confidence the ROH bookers have in Rhodes). Over the last months, he established himself as an indispensable member of the Being The Elite Youtube show, showing his well rounded comedy and promo skills. His opponent will be Jay Lethal, the former ROH World Champion who held the title for 427 days, before losing it to Adam Cole. Lethal is a solid wrestler who puts on great matches every time he wrestles (a personal favourite being the Iron Man Match against Roderick Strong at Death before Dishonor 2015 which ended in a dramatic draw).

Prediction: Cody Rhodes retains the ROH World Championship

Undisputed British Tag Team Championship: Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) (c) vs. Josh Bodom & Zack Gibson

Photo: RevPro

The two most over heels in RevPro, Josh Bodom and Zack Gibson are facing Trent Seven and Tyler Bate for the Tag Titles. Bodom lost his Cruiserweight title at Global Wars Night 1 to Ryan Smile and is now on the hunt for tag team gold, while the champs defeated CCK to win the belts. This match could very well steal the show, as Tyler Bate and Josh Bodom are both capable of great highflying and power move combinations.

Prediction: Bodom & Gibson become the NEW Undisputed British Tag Team Champions

Bullet Club (The Young Bucks & Marty Scurll) vs. CCK (Chris Brookes & Travis Banks) & Flip Gordon

Photo: RevPro

Easily the most successful tag team outside of WWE right now, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) are teaming up with their Bullet Club co-hort “The Villain” Marty Scurll to take on CCK (Chris Brookes & Travis Banks) and Ring of Honor’s Flip Gordon (replacing the injured Kid Lykos). The Bucks, Marty Scurll, and Cody Rhodes are working a tour across the UK with Discovery Wrestling (Scotland), OTT (Ireland) and England’s own RevPro. This is the second UK tour in the past year, after their highly successful one in April, where Kenny Omega joined them. Flip Gordon has the potential to be the next Ospreay or Ricochet if he gets just a couple more years of experience. Really looking forward to this one.

Prediction: Marty Scurll & The Young Bucks

Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship: Zack Sabre Jr. (c) vs Matt Riddle

Photo: RevPro

Matt Riddle is loved by the London crowd. Both wrestlers are working a highly technical style which should mix very well. Champion Zack Sabre Jr. is coming into the contest with a series of great matches against the like of Will Ospreay (Global Wars Night 2) and WALTER (PWG All Star Weekend Night 2). They are probably going to kick each other so hard that Shibata will be proud.

Prediction: Zack Sabre Jr.
