In a move that many had predicted was inevitable ever since Carmella turned on him recently, WWE released James Ellsworth today, releasing an official statement on their website.
It was just around a year ago that Ellsworth signed a deal, believed to be for one year, after gaining a cult following surrounding his enhancement squash to Braun Strowman earlier last year. In many cases, WWE contracts are roll over deals, where both sides decide if they want to continue for another year. It appears that the WWE has decided that the Ellsworth character has run it’s course (at least for now). This would explain the ceremonial beat down he was given this past week on the European tour by the Smackdown Women’s division.
Ellsworth – real name Jimmy Morris – is actually a 15-year veteran of the indie circuit, having wrestled previously in CZW (where he teamed with Drew Gulak on one occassion) and Big Time Wrestling (Massachusetts), as well as the owner for Adrenaline Championship Wrestling based out of Maryland. He wrestled on the indie circuit as “Pretty” Jimmy Dream.
