But the big news is that the match will take place inside a steel cage and TWO RINGS. The three teams will compete in a War Games match.

War Games was a popular NWA/WCW event – like Starrcade, invented by the late, great Dusty Rhodes – that debuted in 1987 at the NWA Mid-Atlantic’s Great American Bash and featured The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff and Paul Ellering vs. The Four Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Lex Luger and JJ Dillon) and became a gimmick match used throughout various NWA (and subsequently WCW) Live Events and PPVs. From 1992 until 1998, it was held exclusively at WCW’s Fall Brawl PPV. It was eliminated in 1999, but Vince Russo brought it back for one match in 2000, on an episode of Monday Nitro.
This will mark the first time the WWE has held a War Games match in it’s history.
