Company: Progress Wrestling
Event: Chapter 54 go to your god LIKE A SOLDIER
Venue: The Electric Ballroom, Camden
PROGRESS returns to its home in Camden after a trip to America and taking a small break. This show is the last before their Alexandra Palace show in September, they will need to put on a good show here to build some buzz for their biggest ever show. No matches have yet been announced for either Travis Banks or Pete Dunne but both are likely to be in action.
Match 1: Strangler Davis vs Connor Mills
These two fought earlier this month fro BPW, Mills has mainly wrestled for lower level UK indies and has been at Freedoms Road tapings for PROGRESS. Davis turned on longtime partner Rob Lynch at the last show and is embarking upon a new run as Strangler Davis. Davis should win easily here while mills will hope to put up a fight.
Predictions: Strangler Davis to win
Match 2: #1 Contenders match: Dahlia Black vs Jinny
After the South Pacific Power Couple shocked the world and made their return to PROGRESS at the end of the last show Black has her eyes set on becoming womens champion as TK Cooper recovers from injury. She comes up against one of the founders of this womens division and someone who hasnt been seen on a chapter show since losing the final of the Natural Progression series at Chapter 49. This is a big matchup and the winner will deservingly face Toni Storm at Ally Pally. As the heel i would expect Jinny to win and face the face Storm.
Predictions: Jinny to win
Match 3: Timothy Thatcher vs Doug Williams
EVOLVE invades here with Thatcher recently leaving the USA to focus on his career in Europe he is a name we will see alot of on these cards in future. Williams has not been in PROGRESS since 2013-14 when he competed on a few shows. This is going to be an exhibition of grappling at its finest with Thatcher getting the win as he fights for the Atlas title at Chapter 55.
Predictions: Timothy Thatcher to win
Match 4: James Drake & Zack Gibson vs F.S.U (Mark Andrews & Eddie Dennis)
F.S.U appearing as a team for the first time since December at Unboxing Live. Dennis is the feelgood story in BritWres after quitting his job to pursue wrestling full time and Andrews will always be over as a PROGRESS original. At the last show Drake and Gibson showed they have the potential to be a great team and a great match here against one of the best teams in the country would put them over in a big way. Losses really dont effect F.S.U so they could easily take the fall here.
Predictions: James Drake and Zack Gibson to win
Match 5: Trent Seven vs Chris Brookes
Match 6: Tyler Bate vs Kid Lykos
PROGRESS taking the route of hyping a tag match with singles matches. These two teams have fought way too much this year all over the country to the point it is almost stale. These two matches should be good, potentially great but its nothing we haven’t already seen. I expect Seven to lose as British Strong Style’s unofficial loss post and Bate to beat Lykos.
Not much announced for a thin card in comparison to the last few shows but PROGRESS always delivers and this show will be well worth watching with the addition of Banks and Dunne’s matches.
