On August 5th, AAW returns to The Knights Of Columbus hall in LaSalle, Illinois for another packed show featuring some of the top names today and more importantly, of tomorrow. Future stars like Matt Fitchett and Trey Miguel are names alongside Hardcore Holly and Chuck Taylor. The main event 6-Man tag team match will be one of the most exciting no doubt ever put on by AAW and the Inaugural AAW women’s title is coming, starting with a tournament at Jawbreaker.
Preview: AAW Jawbreaker (8/5/2017)
Andrew Everett is a current X-Division star on Impact Wrestling and will look to dive all over the veteran until he gives in. Chuck Taylor is the PWG World Champion after defeating Zack Sabre Jr – he may be on the undercard here but that has never bothered “The Kentucky Gentleman.” Taylor takes a comedic approach to wrestling but he has upped his game lately due to multiple bookings and his ring-savvy. Everett is one of the most underrated today and not just as a high-flyer. Both can tell a great story in the ring even in a short amount of time. Everett could use a major clean singles victory in 2017 like this but Taylor won’t make it easy. Looks like an Awful Waffle on Everett for 3 in a great match.
Predicted winner: Chuck Taylor.
Both are looking to impress and pick up a win to further their careers, they are no strangers to AAW but have not reached main event level yet. CJ Esparza is one-half of the Zero Gravity tag team with Brett Gakiya but Esparza can fly all on his own and go at a tremendous pace for someone only wrestling for 4 years. Brubaker has honed his craft in IWA: Mid-South, maybe Brubaker can reach some success elsewhere. Could be evenly matched or CJ Esparza could hit a 630 Splash quickly.
Predicted winner: CJ Esparza
Last month Mat Fitchett had the biggest opportunity of his career to take on Zack Sabre Jr one-on-one. It seems AAW is set on getting Fitchett out of the tag team scene and are looking to mold him into the next top guy. ACH competes for EVOLVE among other promotions and has fun doing so in every single match. ACH has become more driven since leaving Ring Of Honor and has become a better wrestler for it. ACH has gotten on the mic recently to reveal his displeasure for being booked in opening matches. When you see an ACH match there is nothing disposable about him in any way: athletic, charismatic and with tremendous in-ring timing. Looks like ACH gets a victory to move up the cards with a Buster-Call brainbuster.
Predicted winner: ACH.
Ivelisse is coming off a loss in the inaugural SHINE Nova title tournament so she doesn’t want to lose this one too. It would mean a lot to Ivelisse, who has had a career resurgence since leaving WWE years ago. Samantha Heights is 29 years old, competing in AAW on-and-off since 2005. Trained by AAW mainstay Dave Crist, Heights only gets better and better each year but it will be a tough match with “The Baddest B**** In The Building.”
Predicted winner: Ivelisse wins.
Leah Vaughan is a Canadian journey-woman waiting for a chance like this, formerly Leah Von Dutch, she is known for giving it her all every match. Trademark offense like a hurricanrana on Havok may not go well however, the power difference may change things. Jessicka Havok has been on a tear for years, armed with a great gimmick and size. Havoc would love to make history by becoming the first AAW women’s champion after being there for years and having no title to compete for.
Predicted winner: Jessicka Havok.
The team of Ace Perry and PACO come from Illinois and have yet to break out – this is to show what they can do. PACO is very popular, Daniels and Vega are on the other side of that spectrum. Vega and Daniels are known as The Besties In The World and Daniels is incredibly entertaining with his “Real Ben Affleck” gimmick. This is going to be wild and fun but look for The Besties to come out on top and look for a shot at the AAW tag team titles next.
Predicted winners: Alex Daniels and Davey Vega
Hardcore Holly has come to AAW with the same approach he has had his whole career: have a hard-hitting match and try to beat the best, young and old. Holly defeated Mil Muertes in his last AAW appearance and is set for an eventual clash with AAW world champion, Sami Callihan. Keith Lee has been wrestling for 10 years but he has not faced a bevy of veterans like Holly in his career, who can still go 100%. The question is can Holly perform the Alabama Slam on the massive Lee? Because “Limitless” Lee will have no problem lifting Holly up on his shoulders for a Spirit Bomb.
Predicted winner: Keith Lee.
This is a huge match in the careers of Stephen Wolf and Trey Miguel who have yet to receive an AAW tag team title shot until now. The offense of Wolf and Miguel is very similar to Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz. This is going to be can-you-top-that and it will all come down to experience. Xavier and Wentz are known as Scarlett And Graves and they have been the champions before. With teams like Dave and Jake Crist, Rey Fenix and AR Fox, Scarlett and Graves know how to get on top and stay on top. There isn’t a more cohesive unit either maybe in all of tag team wrestling, Xavier and Wentz may retain but the fans will be begging for a rematch.
Predicted winners: Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz are STILL the AAW tag team champions.
And now we come to one of the biggest main events AAW has ever held. Dave Crist returns to in-ring action after dealing with several injuries. Ohio Is For Killers (OI4K) has not only wrecked havoc in AAW, but they have collected all the gold as well. Dave and Jake Crist battled AR Fox and Rey Fenix for the AAW tag team titles until Ohio Is For Killers went down with injury. Now the war is on and it will go all over the building as most Sami Callihan main events do. It would make sense for Callihan to win as he is the AAW world champion but the opponents are going to be too much to handle. Juventud will look to avenge his loss to Callihan for the AAW World Title.
Predicted winners: Juventud Guerrera, Rey Fenix and AR Fox
