NXT: Who are The Street Profits?

Tonight on NXT, the WWE played a vignette hyping the debut of a brand new tag team to NXT, entitled simply The Street Profits. Who are they? If they look familiar, it’s because both of have been part of NXT for years now and made appearances sporadically in previous storylines but never really panned out or as enhancement. The duo is Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

ANGELO DAWKINS

A former collegiate wrestler with Harper College, Gary Gordon joined the WWE in 2012, signing to their developmental system. He debuted on NXT television in 2013 as Angelo Dawkins, and was soon paired with Sawyer Fulton in a tag team that had marginal success as the bottom of the tag division against Enzo & Big Cass, The Vaudevillains, Blake & Murphy and The Hype Bros. When Fulton was originally moved to SAnitY (before he was injured and replaced by Killian Dain), Dawkins was repackaged and placed with Montez Ford, where the two have been working as a team on NXT Live Events for just over seven months. They’ve recently been named the Street Profits, which they’ll be debuting under soon. He was last seen on NXT TV back in September of 2016, in a loss to Tye Dillinger.

MONTEZ FORD

A former US Marine, he joined the WWE Performance Center in spring of 2015 and impressed enough at a tryout to get signed to a developmental deal. Chicago’s Kenneth Crawford made his NXT debut under his real name in the fall of that year. He spent the better part of the next year tag teaming with another new recruit, Patrick Clark, at NXT Live Events. By the end of 2016, he was switched to pairing with Angelo Dawkins, spending the last year working against the likes of The Revival, #DIY, SAnitY, Heavy Machinery and the NXT Tag champs The Authors of Pain at NXT Live Events. They may not have been on television, but they got in some serious training with some great tag teams. As 2017 rolled around, Crawford was finally given his NXT name – Montez Ford. After months of preparation for their new gimmick, it looks like the Street Profits are ready to become active members of the televised tag team division. Ford has had a couple enhancement matches on TV, last seen on television back in August of 2016 in a loss to Steve Cutler. Ford is currently engaged to NXT Superstar and Mae Young Classic competitor Bianca BelAir.
