WWE Fastlane Preview: Neville vs. Jack Gallagher

At WWE Fastlane on March 5th, Neville will defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Jack Gallagher. Fans should expect his reign to continue.

At Raw‘s WWE Fastlane event on March 5th, Neville will defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Jack Gallagher. Since winning the title, Neville has given a shot of life to WWE’s Cruiserweight Division. Essentially, he was exactly what the division needed to get its feet after the Cruiserweight Classic. Although the division is far from thriving, Neville’s reign has been a great start. And this weekend against Jack Gallagher, fans should expect his title reign to continue.

WWE Fastlane Preview: Neville vs. Jack Gallagher

Neville

Since his heel turn, Neville has been absolutely on fire. “The Man That Gravity Forgot” has ravaged his way through the Cruiserweight Division. Truthfully, Neville’s turn might be the best thing to happen to the division since the Cruiserweight Classic. While Neville has reinvented himself, he’s brought the division with him. Since winning the title from Rich Swann, Neville has just lit the world on fire. If WWE and their creative team know what’s good for them, they’ll keep the belt on him.

Another point to note is that Neville has been booked to look unstoppable. It’s rare that fans see a cruiserweight act this way. The style of a cruiserweight often lends itself to babyfaces, and Neville has shattered that mold. Not only is he a breath of fresh air, but he gives the entire division a goal: take him out. For a while, the Cruiserweights were just sitting there with nothing to do. Neville and his Cruiserweight Championship gives them something to strive for, and it’s showing. Neville is a force to be reckoned with and has put the entire division on notice.

Jack Gallagher

Jack Gallagher is, for lack of a better word, hilarious. In short, Gallagher is what happens when the WWE finds someone with a strong British accent. They’ve made him into a male Mary Poppins. And somehow, someway, it actually works. While he might be a caricature, Gallagher is actually likable. Due to his personality, Gallagher firmly has the fans behind him. He has become a babyface force of the division. But he’s just not ready yet.

Gallagher, despite becoming a fan favorite, is not ready to be champion just yet. However, fans should expect him to get his offense in on Neville. The WWE is clearly trying to build both of these guys up, and this is the way to do it. If the WWE could just give Gallagher a well-contested bout for the Cruiserweight Championship this Sunday, that should definitely validate him.

Three Expectations and Final Prediction

This Sunday at WWE Fastlane, Neville will retain his Cruiserweight Championship. However, it might not be as easy as Neville thinks. This bout should be great, and Gallagher might just have a chance. During the match, fans can expect three things. First, Neville’s heel character will shine through. Secondly, Gallagher’s antics will both help and hinder him. Third and finally, Neville will elevate Jack Gallagher to true validation. If this match goes as planned, Gallagher will be ready to end Neville’s reign in the future. But right now, he’s just not quite there. Neville will retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Fastlane.
