WrestleMania Matches That Will Be Made at the Royal Rumble

With the Road to WrestleMania starting at the Royal Rumble, matches are taking shape. Here are some WrestleMania matches that will be made at the Rumble

Royal Rumble ’17 is in a little over a week, and you know what that means. The Royal Rumble is the beginning of the road to WrestleMania. Only one man can win the Royal Rumble, but the outcome of the match is hardly the most important part. WrestleMania matches begin to take shape during this famous match. Here are a few WrestleMania matches that will be made at the Royal Rumble.

I swear this is not a time travel Instagram spoiler. (Photo: WWE.com)

Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar

This is by far the most obvious WrestleMania match on this list. Ever since Brock Lesnar lost to Goldberg in a matter of minutes at Survivor Series, it has been obvious that Lesnar was going to get revenge.

Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

The only match more obvious than Goldberg vs. Lesnar is Seth Rollins vs. Triple H. Triple H screwed Seth Rollins out of the Universal Championship back in August and hasn’t been on Monday Night Raw since. Since it doesn’t look like “The Game” will show up on Raw between now and the Royal Rumble, it’s pretty obvious what’s going to happen. Either Triple H is going to interfere, eliminating Rollins, or he’s going to attack Rollins after someone else eliminates him.

Seth Rollins will not win the Royal Rumble, and somehow, some way, it’ll be Triple H’s fault. They’ve been building this match since Rollins turned on the Shield almost three years ago, and it’s been a long time coming.

Sheamus vs. Cesaro

Seems wild that Raw’s Tag Team Champions would have a WrestleMania match, but it’s been a long time coming. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson would’ve won the tag team championships months ago, but the WWE insisted on giving the New Day the record. Foes turned friends, Sheasaro, have been a fun tag team to watch, but at the end of the day, both men are too good for the tag division.

They’re both in the Royal Rumble, and at some point, it wouldn’t be a surprise for one man to try and eliminate the other. There’s still an episode of Monday Night Raw between now and the Royal Rumble too, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another Tag Team Championship match. A blowoff match between these two is what the WWE deserve, but don’t know that they need.

Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt

This is like Sheamus vs. Cesaro but more obvious. This isn’t even the first time Randy Orton has done this angle. He pretended to join the Authority, only to attack them and wrestle Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. This isn’t even the first time someone has pretended to join the Wyatt Family! Daniel Bryan did the same thing back in 2014! Orton vs. Wyatt at WrestleMania is a sure-thing, and hopefully WWE lets Wyatt win a WrestleMania match for once.

Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns

This one is a bit of a stretch. This prediction is assuming that A) Finn Balor doesn’t return, and that B) Roman Reigns defeats Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. If Roman Reigns becomes WWE Universal Champion, then Braun Strowman very well may win the Royal Rumble match. If you threw Big Cass in this match, it would be Vince McMahon’s wet dream. Hopefully this match doesn’t happen.

Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens

This match is destined to happen at some point, right? The “best friends” have been destined for a break-up forever, and regardless of whether Owens loses his championship, the break-up could start at the Royal Rumble.

If Owens retains, he could interfere in the rumble, costing Jericho the match. They’ve already teased tension about this for weeks, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Owens betray his best friend. If he doesn’t, then the odds go down a little, but it could still happen. With Roman Reigns defending the Universal Championship at WrestleMania, perhaps Owens would go after Jericho’s United States Championship?

What are some other WrestleMania matches that might develop in the Royal Rumble? Did we miss anyone? Do you disagree with our picks? Let us know in the comments below and thanks for reading.
