The Miami Dolphins last won the AFC East in 2008. In the 2010s (2010-2019) they had a record of 70-90 and only one winning season (2016 when they finished 10-6). While they didn’t exactly accomplish a lot on the field this past decade, the Dolphins still had some talent on their roster. Now that the decade is over it is time to choose the Miami Dolphins All-Decade Team. Below is the Dolphins Offensive All-Decade Team.
Miami Dolphins All-Decade Team: Offense
Quarterback: Ryan Tannehill
Ryan Tannehill spent seven seasons with the Dolphins (2012-2018) and, while with the team, he threw for 20,434 yards, 123 touchdowns and 76 interceptions. While his numbers were okay and he was a steady quarterback, he failed to lead Miami to the playoffs even once. But he gets the nod here mainly because he is the longest tenured of the Dolphins during this time frame. The other quarterbacks to consider were Chad Pennington, Chad Henne, Matt Moore, Jay Cutler, David Fales, Brock Osweiler and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Running Back: Lamar Miller
In four seasons with the Dolphins Lamar Miller carried the ball 638 times for 2,930 yards and 19 touchdowns. Those numbers are all tops for Dolphins running backs in the 2010s. Miami had other talented backs this past decade, including Ricky Williams, Reggie Bush, Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake, but with Miller being the longest tenured back and leading the team in carries, yards and touchdowns during this time, he gets the nod. Bush, who was second in rushing yards (2,072) and touchdowns (12), would have been the next running back listed.
Wide Receiver: Jarvis Landry
Jarvis Landry had to be included on this list. His 400 receptions and 4,038 receiving yards both led the team. He recorded 22 touchdowns and trails only Kenny Stills in that category. He was a heck of a slot receiver for Miami from 2014-2017, after they drafted him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Wide Receiver: DeVante Parker
DeVante Parker was drafted by the Dolphins in 2015 and in his first five seasons with the team he has 235 receptions for 3,419 yards and 18 touchdowns. He had an outstanding 2019 season, with 1,202 receiving yards, 72 catches and nine touchdowns. If he builds on what he accomplished last season, Parker could be something special.
Wide Receiver: Kenny Stills
Kenny Stills had 164 catches for 2,566 yards and ranks first on the team in receiving touchdowns (24) and yard per reception (15.7). He gets the nod over Brian Hartline for the third wide receiver spot on this list, but an argument could definitely be made for including Hartline (second in receptions with 267 and receiving yards with 3,737) instead of Stills. Stills made this list instead of Hartline because while the yards and receptions were somewhat close, Stills’ 24 touchdowns dwarfed the number of touchdowns (nine) Hartline had.
Either Brandon Marshall or Mike Wallace could have been included based on talent, but neither receiver spent enough time with the team to warrant making this list.
Tight End: Anthony Fasano
Anthony Fasano spent four seasons with Miami this past decade. During that time he had 124 receptions, 1,418 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. That might not be Rob Gronkowski or Travis Kelce type production, but it is pretty darn good for a tight end. Plus, Fasano was also responsible for getting Tannehill accepted by his teammates and once Fasano left Miami, so did much of the acceptance of Tannehill.
Left Tackle: Jake Long
An argument could be made to include Laremy Tunsil instead of Jake Long, but Long was more impressive at tackle while with the Dolphins than was Tunsil. Long was with Miami from 2010-2012 and he made two of his four Pro Bowls (2010 and 2011) while with the Dolphins. In addition to making the Pro Bowl in 2010, he was also named a First Team All-Pro that same year. Long started 42 games for the Dolphins while Tunsil started 44, but Tunsil never made the Pro Bowl and played guard in his first season.
Left Guard: Richie Incognito
It is difficult to mention Richie Incognito and not address his controversial time in Miami or the NFL as a whole. His time with the Dolphins came to an end because of his large role in the bullying issue in Miami and for much of his career he has been considered one of the dirtiest players in the league. But this list is not a popularity contest and during his time with the Dolphins (2010-2013) Incognito was a heck of a player on the field.
Center: Mike Pouncey
Mike Pouncey was a member of the Dolphins from 2011-2017. While with Miami, Pouncey was regularly the best member of their offensive line, and the leader of that unit, though he did have to deal with some injury issues. Of his four Pro Bowl selections, three were achieved while Pouncey was with the Dolphins. Pouncey’s 81 starts at center this past decade were by far the most of any Dolphins player.
Right Guard: Jermon Bushrod
Jermon Bushrod spent only two seasons (2016-2017) with Miami and played in only 26 games (started all 26 contests) with the Dolphins. John Jerry spent four seasons (2010-2013) and played in 57 games (45 starts) while in Miami. Even though Bushrod played in far less games than did Jerry, Bushrod was better while in a Dolphins uniform so he gets the nod.
Right Tackle: Ja’Wuan James
Ja’Wuan James was possibly the most consistent tackle Miami had this past decade, spending 2014-2018 with the organization. He spent most of his time at right tackle while with the Dolphins and started 62 games for them over five seasons.
