Logan Stenberg 2020 NFL Draft Profile

Unless you are a diehard Kentucky Wildcats fan, you may not have heard of Logan Stenberg. He has been one of the Wildcats’ most consistent blockers for four consecutive seasons. As a freshman, Stenberg played in 12 games in 2016. Stenberg has played and started in all 39 games for the past three seasons with the Wildcats. This past season, the Wildcats’ offense underwent multiple changes in the playstyle in terms of philosophy. After turning into an RPO-style offense in the middle of the season, the Wildcats finished the season as the fourth-ranked rushing offense in the nation with an average of 279.1 yards. In his senior season, Stenberg was selected as an AP first-team All-SEC selection. He was also selected as a third-team selection as a guard by Pro Football Focus.

Stenberg is a player that has been developing himself for years as an efficient blocker for the Wildcats. Now he will take his talent and raw potential to the NFL where he could replicate the same impact as he did with Kentucky. While there are attributes that make him a great run-blocker, there are questions of his consistency in the passing game. He performed soundly all week in the 2020 Senior Bowl in late January. His efficiency in one-on-one drills such as the run blocks and even in pass setting raised his draft stock. While he did not disappoint in the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, he did not bring himself to the center of attention in the measuring drills. He will not be a player that will raise eyebrows every play but he can play consistent enough to contribute to a highly efficient offense.

Projection: late second round to third round

Bottom Line

While Stenberg may not be flashy as a prospect or even as a player, he can be consistent enough to contribute to an NFL offense. There are many traits that he possesses that make him a reliable offensive lineman by instinct. There are opportunities for Stenberg to gain traction and become a better lineman once he gets drafted. Stenberg did show flexibility by adapting well to the multiple changing of offensive schemes at Kentucky. Showing flexibility gives his draft stock a huge boost potentially into the second or third round. There is potential to be one of the first pure guard prospects selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. Stenberg could be selected and put in a team’s second-team depth chart behind an aging offensive line that he could learn and develop his skills from.
