With the starting wave of NFL Free Agency over this past March, there are still plenty of unsigned players ahead of this year’s training camp. While many have improved their rosters, including trades and the draft, there are still free agents waiting right before camp to sign. How do the wide receivers, quarterbacks and edge rushers fare on the list? It depends on what rosters are looking for.
It’s hard to envision if any free agents will be signed at all, but there’s always room for improvement. Many NFL teams will conduct their training camp and might consider these five veterans. Myles Garrett, AJ Brown and Maxx Crosby have been in the spotlight this offseason, but let’s finally break down the final top free agents and the possible landing spots for each player.

NFL Free Agency: Top 5 Available Veterans Ahead of Training Camp
Top 5 Players
5. Jadeveon Clowney
Jadeveon Clowney remains an unrestricted free agent at 33 years old and doesn’t have much time left in his career. The former three-time Pro Bowler is known for waiting until NFL Training Camp to sign with a team, as he’s been more of a journeyman over the past few offseasons. Last year, the edge rusher joined the Dallas Cowboys, becoming their best pass-rusher, hauling in 8.5 sacks, 41 total tackles (24 solo), four passes defended, and one forced fumble.
It’s rare to see this type of production at this point in his career. However, Clowney is yet to win a ring and would prefer to join a desperate roster that needs a replacement, especially for a contender that’s close to a Super Bowl.
Possible Landing Spots: Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots
4. Bobby Wagner
Bobby Wagner is floating in the same boat. However, he’s won a Super Bowl, but probably wants to win one last one before he hangs up his cleats. The former second-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft is the perfect short-term solution for needy defensive teams. After spending the past two years in Washington, he’s been more of an afterthought in a unit that saw Sonny Styles, Odafe Oweh and Leo Chenal step in this offseason.
Wagner is probably playing his final season, but should be going out with a bang.
Possible Landing Spots: Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys
3. Jimmy Garoppolo
Earlier this offseason, free agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo considered retirement after not receiving much interest. The veteran is still available and hasn’t retired just yet. He’s been a backup to Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams for a few years, but never got a decent chance to win the starting job. With Garoppolo winding down his career, will anyone be interested in signing him on a one-year contract?
Possible Landing Spots: Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals
2. Deebo Samuel
After finishing his lone season with the Commanders, Deebo Samuel is still looking for an NFL home and could sign immediately. Unfortunately, he hasn’t agreed to a contract yet, but should be on a team right before training camp. He might not be the same Pro Bowler-caliber receiver he once was with the San Francisco 49ers, but he could electrify a team’s passing game on day one. It won’t be perfect or overnight, but the receiver still has a lot of juice left in the tank.
Possible Landing Spots: Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs
1. Stefon Diggs
Of course, other than being one of the most controversial pass-catchers, Stefon Diggs proved why he is the top free agent of this list. Last season, he was WR1 of a Super Bowl team despite a heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Seahawks. After dealing with legal issues this offseason, he’s been cleared of his latest charges, but it might take time for teams to sign him. The receiver isn’t the same he once was, but could become a hidden WR2 for a super needy team.
