The 2026 NFL Draft is already over, but the New York Giants are reportedly still undecided on free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. The former first-rounder has been in talks with the organization about a potential after an impressive workout, but it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon. The Giants traded up to select Notre Dame product Malachi Fields in the third round, so the team has a bit of overcrowding in their receiver unit happening here. Having signed Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin this free agency, the team still decided to grab Fields when they already have Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt.
Unless they’re planning to trade Hyatt while releasing Isaiah Hodgins, the reunion might still work. However, it doesn’t feel sensible to sign him since they drafted Fields. While Beckham has reportedly “looked good,” the timing on this situation will be on the needs of this offense. The last time that Beckham played a full season was when he was with the Cleveland Browns, hauling in 74 catches for 1,035 yards.
No one has seen much of him, and even though he’s no longer in his prime, he should be garnering interest elsewhere.
4 Teams That Could Target Top Free Agent Odell Beckham Jr After 2026 NFL Draft
The receiver won’t be getting a high-end contract, but will settle for a one-year minimum. Beckham recently caught 35 receptions for 565 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns during his time with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. He probably won’t hit those numbers, but he could revive his career for one more decent run with these four teams.
Potential Landing Spots
Los Angeles Chargers
If anyone needs a veteran pass-catcher, it’s the Los Angeles Chargers. The team selected Brenen Thompson, and now they have three inexperienced receivers, including Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith. QB Justin Herbert can’t afford to have this type of offense. Even though Quentin Johnston has shown improvement, he hasn’t fully developed how Ladd McConkey has.
The team can’t waste talent, and bringing in an experienced receiver like Beckham won’t hurt the Chargers’ pockets.
Los Angeles Rams
Meanwhile, the Rams are already preparing for Matthew Stafford’s afterlife, drafting Ty Simpson in the first round. While the Rams are talking a new deal with Stafford, it doesn’t sound like he’s going anywhere until he passes the torch. The team explored a trade involving Davante Adams, so it shouldn’t be surprising to see this team sign a low-stakes veteran to strengthen their chances for a Super Bowl.
A reunion with Beckham makes sense here. He won a ring, but he didn’t get to play. Beckham could rejoin the Rams to fully embrace the championship experience if he can stay healthy.
Chicago Bears
After being forced to trade DJ Moore due to cap concerns, the Bears could sign Beckham to see what they may get out of him. The team selected high-stakes WR Zavion Thomas with the No. 89, but who says he’ll be ready for full-time work? They have Jahdae Walker waiting in the wings, but they could bring Beckham to mentor the new group.
New England Patriots
The Patriots trading for WR AJ Brown feels imminent, but it might not work out if the two aren’t putting in place a deal. Still, the team signed Romeo Doubs this offseason after releasing Stefon Diggs, which is an enormous upgrade for Drake Maye. There’s still some work to do behind Mack Hollins, so Beckham being WR3 makes sense to help Doubs and Kayshon Boutte if the Brown trade doesn’t work.
