2026 NFL Draft: Francis Mauigoa Scouting Report
Nicknamed “Sisi,” American Samoan-born Francis Mauigoa moved to San Bernardino, California, as a teen. Incredibly fast for his size, he stood out for his unusual quickness and impressive body control.
As a blue-chip recruit and the nation’s top offensive tackle, Mauigoa received offers from Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, and USC, but chose the Miami Hurricanes, where he earned Freshman All-America honors.
As a sophomore in 2023, he made ESPN’s Top 300. In 2025, he earned first-team All-ACC honors and was named Consensus All-American.
Making the Athletic’s 2025 “Freak List” due to his speed and low body fat percentage, author Bruce Feldman noted his 1.57 flying 10-yard split. “His power output registered almost 10,000 watts, which is by far the most on the team, almost 1,000 watts more than the next player. Last year, Mauigoa measured at 9,274 watts. His max velocity is 18 mph, and his vertical jump is 30 1/2 inches.” https://caneswarning.com/francis-mauigoa-named-to-annual-freaks-list-by-the-athletic
Declaring for the draft as a 20-year-old junior, Mauigoa is certain to draw a great deal of interest because of his positional versatility. Although he played right tackle for Miami, he’s experienced at left tackle.

Weaknesses:
- Need to improve pass protection
- Hand placement needs work

- Despite physical gifts, the technique needs to be more consistent
Player Comparison: Penei Sewell
Projection: First Round
Best Fits: Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals
Final Thoughts:
An elite athlete gifted with superior physicality, speed, and power. His tendency to rely too heavily on his physical strength could cause him to over-commit. But with proper coaching, he should develop into a premier NFL offensive lineman especially if surrounded by solid veteran talent.
