Report: One NFL Trade Candidate Could Be Available This Season

The Tennessee Titans are having another ugly season as the 0-3 team could make veteran running back Tony Pollard available as the latest trade candidate. According to a report, the source made a list of running backs that teams across the league should target, and Tony Pollard is one of the trade candidates that might be on the move. It’s easy to understand why the Titans could make Pollard available since the team is nowhere near being a postseason contender, and they could use his value to build draft capital around Cam Ward, who is struggling in his rookie debut campaign. To no fault of Ward’s, the Titans must put him in the best scenario to thrive in this offense, and right now, they don’t have the “it” factor in this team.

With that, the Titans won’t be in a rush to move Pollard since they’re still waiting for Tyjae Spears to return to the lineup this year. However, no one should rule out the possibility of a trade at some point. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Memphis product took over as the starter for the Dallas Cowboys’ backfield during his first NFL tenure, recording a Pro Bowl nod in 2022. Pollard signed with the Titans last offseason on a three-year deal and is now entering the final season next year in that contract.

Potential Destinations

Dallas Cowboys

While running back Javonte Williams is showing signs of life as a reliable No. 1 starter for the Cowboys, they could use the depth in the backfield. Miles Sanders is good, but he’s still showing signs of his former self, and it’s not the most consistent performance. 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue has yet to start for this backfield room, so no one should rule out the possibility of a trade.

Jerry Jones said he could trade away the extra first-round picks, but really, they could trade a third-rounder in return for Pollard. The veteran could come back in Dallas’ scheme and share the handoffs with Williams and probably form one of the most underrated duos in the league.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are in the market for another capable running back. Isiah Pacheco is still a reliable downhill backfield piece, but the same can’t be said about veteran Kareem Hunt. He’s slowing down with age, and with him becoming a free agent next offseason, they could soon be looking for another backup. Pacheco has yet to receive an extension as well, so it’s really anyone’s starting job up for grabs. Pollard won’t take snaps away from Pacheco, but add on to the production.

Los Angeles Chargers

However, the Los Angeles Chargers could be open for business soon. After losing Najee Harris to a heartbreaking injury, they must get a veteran to back up 2025 draft pick Omarion Hampton. They can’t afford to have Hampton handle an excessive workload. While they do have Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal, these two haven’t proven to be reliable.

The team has enough cap space to pull off a trade for Pollard to give Hampton some breathing room on the field.
